In today's video, I will be testing different performance pool chalks on the market. We will be comparing Master chalk, Triangle chalk, Silver Cup chalk, Lava chalk, Morakami chalk, Kamikaze chalk, OB chalk, Longoni chalk, Mezz Smart chalk, Balabushka chalk, Blue Diamond, Predator Chalk, Russian Magic Chalk, Exceed X-chalk, Taom Pyro, Kamui Roku, Kamui .98, Sniper chalk and even the new Taom V10. Which chalk is the king of all chalks? Are premium chalks worth it? I'll let you guys decide.
Video of Alex Pagulayan miscuing right after chalking: kzfaq.infoVluje50d...
Special thanks to Taom, Kamui, Outsville, Mezz and my pool friends for sending out chalk for this test. Without them, this episode would not be possible. Everything in this video my all my opinion, I'm was not paid by ANY company. Many of these chalks I had to buy myself with my own hard earned money.

I used tiger sniper chalk for a long time and had 0 issues it’s clean chalk and doesn’t get on my hands. But I’ve used taom and Roku as well and there pretty good. Now that I watched this imma give premium x a try, because I use magnetic chalk holders and I’m hoping it’s a best of both worlds between taom and tiger sniper

Being hampered on the rail and stretching, I think Alex miscued due to a poor stroke. Thanks for the best chalk comparison out there. Being a Blue Diamond fan, now I'm gonna have to try the Longoni (same company that makes Blue Diamond)

Hard to say about the Alex situation although you could be right. I watched the Alex clip over and over again and it didn't seem his stroke was all that poor. I noticed Alex was extra careful about chalking the rest of the match leading me to believe the tip didn't have good coverage of chalk. Give the Longoni a try, I really enjoyed using it!

Balabushka is the best chalk for a Kamui soft black tip. Been using it for years. It goes on smooth and thick and velvety. It's less rough and less sandy / less abrasive feeling than Predator 1080 or Blue Diamond, and it only costs $5 for a cube. Russian Magic Chalk is a close second place, a slightly rougher feeling when applying it, but it's still a smooth and velvety feeling, my 2nd pick, same price, $5 a cube. Both are slightly messy chalks, but a lot of chalk gets on the tip.

I use the V10 especially at home. It's by far the cleanest but doesn't seem to give you more grip. Or let you hit further outside without miscuing. But you don't miss cue you very often. I will say that with my experience the kamui 0.98 offers the most grip but is terribly messy. When that dot on the cue ball hits the object ball it's going to skid. Just not worth the mess and the skids.

I used all the chalks from the video, except Great White. I have the best experience with TAOM Pyro, I currently use Roku but TAOM Pyro is much cleaner than Roku. I also tried Kamui Kageki a few days ago, very similar chalk to 0.98, nothing special. I would like to try Great White as well, but it is impossible to get it in the Balkans and even in Europe, I mostly got all the others in Europe. All the best, great video, I think the new Predator chalks will be solid, but not in the same range as Kamui and TAOM. Keep making videos like this, congrats, you're doing great and I hope the channel gets more and more famous and I hope I can get a Great White to complete my 'collection'.

I would recommend the Pyro as it’s very clean and really sticks to the tip. Only downside of the Pyro is that it’s a little more difficult to apply to the tip. I'm new here and learning a lot from your videos. Are there any videos that you talk about various tip hardness or softness? I have two sticks. One is 21 oz. and the other is 18 oz. I like to play with light sticks. The 21 oz. stick will be my breaking stick. Should I use a super hard tip just for breaking? I hear hard tips are more likely to create mis-cues. Any thickness you can recommend for breaking? As for my lighter stick for pool play, will softness make a big difference in my performance? How much is too soft or just right? Or is it just personal preference? Thank you in advance and keep up the good work.

@EhBitTV

Hmm your comments at the end got me thinking, when I chalk between shots I don’t look at it, maybe I’m happening to hit a spot I’m not chalking. With Masters it’s so messy I probably got better coverage without looking. When I do miscue I do look at my tip and chalk it thoroughly and then I won’t miscue again for a few racks, but I don’t really look at the tip again until I do. I should make sure I actually look at least once a rack then, to make sure I have full coverage at least for the next 8-ish shots etc.

I don't know how many games I have lost due to a miscue when I was using master. I haven't miscued once since I started using taom. I'll never use master again. In practice, I shot whole games without rechalking, and had no miscue. I don't try that during a match, but I can go several shots before I chalk, unless I have a shot that requires a lot of English.

@The Billiard Corner You tried very hard to build a foundation for the idea that your test should be taken, but I didn't succeed. Because; 1. however you will not be able to repeatedly hit comparable power. 2. The fact that most of them had an average of six when there was an incorrect shot, I would argue that it says more about that. When you cue the white with your bare hands, grease and moisture are transferred from your hands, cueball...

Get a haircut hippie! jk Started using Master because that's in every bar and pool hall, even bought a couple boxes for the bars I frequently play at. Tried Predator and liked the coverage so I switched. Yes, it's a little messy at times but I wasn't going through it as "quickly" as Master. And the only times I'd pull out a new piece was if someone cored the shit out of it. That was until my first piece of Taom. Since using the Taom Pyro, it's probably the last chalk I'll ever need. I'm literally still on my first piece after ~1.5yrs. Granted because it costs so much more, nobody uses my chalk unless I know how they chalk their tip. And my remaining pieces will go into a safe deposit box and be left in my will to my family.

That miscue you're talking about in your video, had NOTHING to do with the chalking of the cue. He aimed WAY too low on the ball. This is the FIRST thing you learn about when starting any type of cue pool. He was so low, that he was extremely close to having to pay for a new pool table cloth

That's not a good test, it's not how many shots a chalk can make without miscue. Do a long hard draw and you'll notice blue diamond and predator gives a lot more grip and spin due to the friction, you'll miscue a lot with masters and other cheap ones
