MikeRail Cutting Room Floor HD Volume 00 using my early HD handycam begins summer 2016 with two setups of the Capital Connection at Palmerston North. Some of this video I had not used before. Good to note LE Stephen B helping an olde lady to get the door open on the front car. Also note the onset of real darkness in the second clip some days later. Around the shortest day is the only real chance of "better" pictures, but over time I have realised that the camera is seeing the real world at that moment......

I don't remember an early visit to the station without the tiny local bird life singing on the sunrise. They were also quite evident at the Pahiatua location at times also.......
I have used this video this visit to Pahiatua before, this is a longer version, and also using later software and more sound tweaks it has worked out nicer. This edition of a typical 2016 670/671 train(s) at Woodville, Pahiatua and back to Woodville, and the Manawatu gorge via road which was still in use.
We lost two things from this branch soon after, the Dx and Dc classes on many daily duties, and also the closure of the gorge road made my early morning trips to Woodville somewhat more difficult........
Also of note was some action on the ground of Rail Operator John W which won't be able to be caught again.....
How quickly the day to day becomes history.
