This is actually a model year 2000 car, with the VIN for the win: 2G1 for Canadian made Chevrolet, WX12 for Monte Carlo SS, K for 3.8L V6 with SFI, RPO code "L36", 9 is a check digit, Y for the 2000 model year, 9 for Oshawa, Ontario Canada assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Oshawa Ontario plant operated until 2019, closed for a time and then reopened in 2021 and still operates today.
