This is probably one of the most detailed teardown of a digital camera you will find on YT, you should save this video as a tutorial for every time you need it. In order to reduce time, probably on the next videos I will not put on evidence so many details. An amazing piece of engineering, considering it was made in 2009. Hope you like it and you do appreciate my work.

What type of tape are you taking off at 1:09:44 (1/2inch, 1/4inch)? What type of phillips screw driver are you using (#0, #0-1,#0-2)? What type of prying tools are you using? What type of tweezers are you using (metal or plastic)? How do you align the image sensor on reassembly?

Excellent video, just what I've been looking for. Q. How does one discharge the capacitor?
@CameraRestore
@CameraRestore Жыл бұрын
Thanks, you will need a 20k OHM 5w resistor, I recommend adding some extension wire to avoid touching any exposed wire.

After I shoot a few images or a few seconds of video I get a error 70 or error 80 any idea what the defect is?

This video is absolutely brilliant, thank you so much for such good contributions. While replacing the card reader slot, my autofocus function stopped working. Then I realized through your video that some of the cables in the board located on the bottom of the camera (where the capacitor sits), are actually connected with the AFocus. By reconnecting some of them the AFocus function started working again, but after putting back all the screws in the camera, the AFocus stopped working again, and I stop seeing any red lights in the viewfinder. I have rechecked again many times all of the connections on the motherboard and bottom board but the Afocus never worked back again. Do you have any clue on what may be the problem? Thank you so much!

Great video, can you please tell me what is the material used for the bottom tripod screw plate? Is it a painted alloy or solid polycarbonate? Just purchased a near mint 7d with a scuff mark bellow the grip, thinking about using some 1000 grit wet and dry to smooth it out...

HI, can you please help me with the following. I have a 7D. After may years of service one of the screw from the bottom pcb went into the camera. After that the camera stopped working at all. I found the screw, put it back to its place but unfortunately the screw must have shorted something in the camera. Even I found all 3 boards (dc-dc, bottom, main) visibly faultless, I do not know how to test them. I have a multi-meter only. Can you please tell me if the is any way to sort it out. I do not want to order them blindly to determine which one is the faulty one.

Damage from a loose screw can be very dangerous and in some cases irreversible, can easily compromise the mainboard. A multimeter is not enough to score the issue without an electrical diagram, and manufacturers keeps that very secret to the public. This is quite hard, but one thing that you could do, is to buy a dummy battery for your camera, with the multimeter set-ed to mAmps connect it in line with the positive wire of that dummy battery, power the camera from an external source (you could use a battery, wired properly) and see if you get any power drained from your camera. Or use a powerbank and will show the readings. I might make a video for this sometime, so sty tuned ;)

can you show me how to fix error 20 on my 7D?
@CameraRestore
@CameraRestore Жыл бұрын
Error 20 is related with mechanical failure, shutter unit needs replacement. This video should be enough to understand how to do it.
