In this video Doctor Furlan explains what is degenerative disc disease (DDD) and how to avoid pain from this condition. The lumbar disc is a shock-aborbing cushion between two vertebraes. Disc disease can lead to disc bulge, prolapse, thinning, herniation and osteophytes.

Hi Dr. Furlan! I truly enjoyed this video, as it provided some clarity on what I am experiencing. I will view your myofascial pain video for more specificity on addressing my symptoms. I also have diagnosed arthritis in various parts of my body, resulting in some chronic pain and some recurring pain. I have had these pains for years. At one point lumbar surgery was suggested. However with the help of the many years of physio therapy and exercises I am feeling better. The calves are still a problem at times. Thank you Doctor Furlan.

I am so glad I found your channel! I learned so much from this video, things that therapists never told me. Although I just starting trying out these positions, I like the Z lie resting position, the sloppy push ups, and the technique to getting up from a seating position. Thank you very much!

I love your videos! Thanks a lot, they are very helpful as is all the information you share that usually doctors don’t have the time or patience to talk about. I do have DDD and just went through an acute phase, but still have chronic pain which is usually worse waking up in the morning or going to bed at night. I am trying to stay away from anti inflammatory medication only using Naproxen 375 mg every other day until the pain goes down. I wonder if a prolonged treatment of anti inflammatories can actually make the inflammation go away and then continue with a “maintenance” dose? Thanks again for all the help you offer 💕

Thank you very much for this very helpful video clip Dr Furlan. I have a very painful lumbar back degenerate with 4 of my left side spinal bone bends so it's very painful when standing or sitting down for a long time and I been going through with it for a very long time it was when I was feeling like i was carrying a heavy stone on my back that i was asked to went for MRI then it was dictated so I have had an epidural injection then I am now on a very strong pain relief tablets which helps a bit with some exercises so I am able to move around. Thanks for sharing this video clips which I am going to try much appreciated.

A very good evening from Barbados doctor. For years i’had back problems and meant types of treatments, only yesterday a new doctor told me I have this degenerative disk. just came across your channel and i’m Super excited.
