1985 Some more of my very first sound recording efforts using very basic equipment
This volume begins with a Dc banker returning from National Park past Matapuna and heading for Taumarunui for the next job
Followed at with various north and southbound freights, a pair of Dc's and several other freights
(note the large number of 4 wheelers still in use)
This volume has a few recording locations around Owhango, Kakahi, as well as Matapuna. There is another SB Dx freight from Taumarunui to Manunui
The final recordings are in 1987 of a Dc banked Dx SB freight at Piriaka lookout and after my video battery had expired at the Cinderback (shown in MikeRail VHS-01 at 52mins) whilst recording 5212 stalling. It got its feet again briefly before a second complete halt and restart again. It was about that point that I got my sound recording close to the train as it was getting away again
DONT overdo the volume on these olde recordings. There is some distortion already in there in places but I have used them as these sounds are already long gone
