Very informative Christina! I have seen some people use Windex and I heard of Dawn dish soap. When I do my 1st one I think I’ll use this technique! Thanks for sharing! 💐🌸🎨

one lady I watched sprayed her paintings with Windex and I wondered if the ammonia would cause problems. Thank you for sending me this link and I also wanted to say I love your doggy apron!!!
@ChristinaWelch6 жыл бұрын
not sure if there is ammonia in Windex, but it is not recommended on varnished surfaces. I would think it may cause an issue with the paint.

Thank you so much for making this video. I made acrylic skins for jewelry and I do have silicone in my paints, do I still need to clean the skins if I am using a glass cabochon or is the cleaning with baby powder only for when using resin? Your videos are so calming and always full of wonderful information.
@ChristinaWelch5 жыл бұрын
I would still clean the skin with alcohol so the glass will adhere correctly.

Love this video helped immensely. How do you sell your paintings.
@ChristinaWelch3 ай бұрын
Great! I sell locally most of the time. I used to do online auctions, but I'm taking a break from all of that. It's alot of work.
@mumo94132 жыл бұрын
I just use basic unscented ( no conditioning) baby wipes, they work really well. I've never had any pitting whether I varnish or resin.
@ChristinaWelch2 жыл бұрын
that's fine if you are not using silicone. We use silicone in most of our paints.
@mumo94132 жыл бұрын
@@ChristinaWelch oh! I should have clarified, that is when I use silicone. I got the tip from a well known KZfaq artist. I'm definitely not telling you what to do, Your art! Your rules! Just sharing what has worked for me. Thankyou, for taking the time to reply & your inspiring videos!

Thank you for sharing how to prepare your painting for resin, I love to use resin but I just can not seem to get the canvas free of silicone

you can put a coat or two of varnish on before you resin.

You have probably already answered this question but I'm going to ask it anyway; you said you leave your paintings to cure, how long do you leave them for and then you do the baby powder afterwards? thank you for your help. Absolutely brilliant tutorial thank you Christina
@ChristinaWelch5 жыл бұрын
I let them completely dry, then I cure them for at least 2 weeks before I do anything else to them.

Hi, can I use this technique for cleaning oil canvas,,??
@leahfaketty94865 жыл бұрын
Hey Christina, now that I watched all three of your videos ( thank you for such detailed information ) on drying, cleaning, and varnishing I know I have been doing it all wrong and too soon. Are my paintings going to be ruined in time? Still in the learning faze so they are no masterpieces but I would hate to give a painting to someone that isn't going to hold up.
@ChristinaWelch5 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say they are ruined, but in future works, allowing paintings to cure 2-4 weeks after they are dry.
@priscillagranade59493 жыл бұрын
did you say that you could resin a piece even though you varnished it?
@tinamariemalinowski27455 жыл бұрын
how long do you wait before adding the baby power. glad you did this video ty

2 weeks curing after it's totally dry, so maybe 3 weeks.

Is this for acrylic pouring only? Or can i used this technique on a normal acrylic painting?

After you paint the canvas how long do you let it dry before you apply the baby powder... to you just sprinkle it straight on after it's done air drying?

I dont like baby powder. Could U use corn starch or diatomacous earth?
@ChristinaWelch5 жыл бұрын
Yes, the baby powder I use now is cornstarch. It doesn't work as well as straight baby powder, but it does remove most of the silicone. I've seen some use flour as well.

I’m a bit confused....I went to art school and was taught to never scrub a painting like that. Does the powder not damage it? I’ve been painting for 20yrs and have never done this before varnishing, and yes I know this is explaining how to clean after using paint with silicone, but I’m still a bit perplexed by it 🤔🙂
@ChristinaWelch5 жыл бұрын
this is a super soft bristle brush, the baby powder does nothing to the finish. We only use this method with paint containing silicone. We have no scratches or blemishes cleaning our paintings. Acrylic paint when dry is water resistant as well.
@BeansInThePark5 жыл бұрын
Christina Welch thank you for explaining further. Love the videos you put up by the way 🙂

Love all your work. Being only a beginner in this art, I've never seen this done before. Why is it necessary and does it need doing to all paintings?
@ChristinaWelch6 жыл бұрын
Linda Dunstan only if you are using silicone to create cells. You have to remove it before you varnish or resin. If you are not using an additive, you can just clean your paintings with a warm rag to remove dust. Thank you for watching! 💕

Thank you, Christina. In all the videos I have watched, this has not been mentioned before. It's definitely worth knowing. Cheers

Hi, Christina...I keep a close eye on my paintings and pop any air bubbles I can. But they form air bubbles, like several hours later when I feel it is too late to torch (or overnight) and it’s too late. So I know to sand stuff prior to resining, but can you sand prior to varnish? Or won’t varnish cover up the marks? Thank you for all you do!
@ChristinaWelch4 жыл бұрын
I don't sand for varnish, only for resin in between coats.

Christina Welch Any suggestions on getting rid of the little bumps? I think resin would cover them up with how it self-levels, but don’t always want to resin. Thank you!

How long do you leave powder on before removing? What happens to painting if you don’t clean off and you varnish anyway?
@ChristinaWelch5 жыл бұрын
at least one day. If you don't get the silicone off, the varnish won't stick to the spots where the silicone is.
