1) Teach them about online banking, payment how to use apps, UPI etc. 2) Hire a driver, cab and have their numbers ready instead of your older parents attempting to drive on their own on highways. 3) Figure out the nearest hospital, ambulance their numbers and how to register/check in at the counter etc. 4) Make arrangements for having them go out and watch movies or eat out every once in a while. 5) Have 3 numbers of local plumbers, electricians and other house jobs in case of any need. 6) Pay household help on the side if parents are stingy or want to extract more work than the help signed up for. 7) Get a membership of a local salon or massage parlor and ask your parents to get oil massages done on a regular basis for better health.

Excellent content. One more item I would like to suggest, this is a bit difficult as well. This is to buy 1 KG, 2 KG 3KG and 5 KG dumbbells for aging parents and teach them how to use it. This is one of the simplest methods to increase bone density, and reducing bone density is directly increasing multiple life style diseases. This shall keep them in perfect health for a very long time. Give it a try.

Sir I took my mother to an outing once and she burst on me like I have spent all our live savings. I took her to Haldiram after some shopping. I'm financially well off. I could easily take her to a fine dining but settled on Haldiram because I thought she'd be comfortable there because she isn't used to going to high profile places. The bill was hardly above 500 rupees. It happened almost a year ago and she still makes an issue out of it. How to deal with situations like these?

dont show the bill to them, if they ask bill then tell them 110 like that, and sometimes you can say it will be reimbursment from company for hotel bill once in a quarter like that... that will make them happy and you too can feel happy that you could take your mom

U told many things but Wat abt asking oldies to spend sm money on their own . Thoda tho dignity Honi chahiye . Especially the older generation take their son and families for granted . For the last 30 yrs hum hi Kharcha karte hain lekin old parent in laws ko agar realise nahi hogi tho Kharab tho lagta hai . This point also needs to dealt with . We will not b burden on our children in future . Becoz is tharah ka relationship me bitterness ke siva kuch nahi bachata . Moti pension hai phir bhi kharchenge nahi. We r financial ok isliye chal gadi chali . I wonder Wat abt sons with less salary? Parents ka pharz nahi banta haath batana ? Aap oldies ke rigid mentality aur cunningness ko shayad nahi dekha hai . Apne hi parivar was lo se diplomacy koi unse seekhe . . Seedhi baat tho unko bhati hi nahi. Anyway Gud vdo but not always helpful kuch nahi bachata

Very relevant advice. My spouse and I have tried everything. We have succeeded partially when it comes to online banking and shopping. But.... My in laws (more) and my parents ( to some extent) don't listen. They are very rigid. Sometimes when we talk about these things, they get very offended and show a lot of resistance..... In the end, they either skirt the issue and hide things from us or play the victim saying that we are trying to control them. My in laws go a step ahead.... They turn it on us.... Saying we don't care... The mistake is with us because we need to stay in a different City for work.... They expect us to leave everything and come and live with them... This is in spite of us putting our priorities on hold and visiting them and staying with them multiple times in a year. Now we are in a position where we have not progressed in life.... Our focus has become catering to parents'needs, and when we can't, we feel guilty.... If we voice our limitations to my in laws, an argument or passive aggression ensues, which is very toxic and saps our energies.

Young men nowadays anyways do not do any physical work for women & children. Sons are not doing physical work for parents- they get daughter in laws to do physical work. I don’t know which Shrawan kumars you are talking about. This video of yours sounds practical but not easy to implement. Working with maids behind parents back ? How long is it possible? Only daughters’ parents never get old,are going to hospital for years alone till they can. Only son’s parents are pampered.
