What do you mean lock the phasers ? I need to do that lol

@mrljenkins86 the cam phasers! The concept was brilliant! But, as most implications, they were on the leading edge of technology! The idea was to vary the camshaft centerline in relation to the actual cam shaft centerline in relation to the actual top dead zero relationship of the actual cam position to the actual top dead center to top dead center of the piston! You can get by with camshafts that you're told were too aggressive for the application you're choosing! Timing applications and compression ratios would be used to weigh ratios all factor into your decision! I worked for Sheaffler, the largest OME supplier in the world! But, I learned more about timing and camshaft centerline and varialable camshaft centerline applications at work than at the track! The technology was actually engineered for small engines for fuel economy and efficiency, but the same technology could be applicable to larger high-performance engines and has! Technology isn't our enemy. If we embrace it and properly apply it, we could have more power and efficiency! The days of trailering your car to the track could be over, except for the big dogs!

Camshaft or camphaser?

yes, the original stock camphaser always go bad. Cloyes Timing Chain Set 9-0391SBVVT this is the kit that I used all the time. Many people tell me to use OEM on the comments, but I never have had a problem with them. i hope this helps

don't forget to change the Vtv solenoids too! Dorman OE Solutions VVT Solenoid DOR 917-200 that's what I used. the stock ones always go bad as well. maybe you should start with that lots of times that it is the problem.

I always used OEM parts but in this case the customer did not want to spend the extra money. the kit that I am getting from cloyes has been working out good for me. the trucks I did 5 years ago still running till this day. I haven't an issue so far, I agree with you on what you said but till this day I have not locked the phasers. I love how this engine perform with the vvt still active

@@antonioaguirre6166 vvt is good until your oil pressure drops to around 20 then the only fix is a new engine or lock out the phasers then the oil pressure doesn't matter then also the phasers will outlast the timing chain and guides

@@sprintcardriver8 yes true, if the engine is too wore out the best thing to do is replace it. Have you checked out my order vídeo where I’m dropping a 2014 5.4L vvt expedition engine into my 2004 ford f150?

I’m a firm believer of OEM parts too but you don’t have too. I’ve been using Cloyes timing chain sets for the last 10 years. I have done at least 200 of this trucks in the last 5 years and never had one come back.

I went the UTI in Houston (Universal technical Institute). I graduated with honers Sr. I will highly recommend this school for anyone that wants to go into this business. A lot of the old school mechanics give me a hard time till this days but I can work on any car any year any model and figure anything out. I have some well known dealers that bring me work cuz sometimes they can’t even figure it out, and that’s why I charged the big bucks
