I mean they were in development at roughly the same time so that was always unlikely. However if Scarlet and Violet end up underperforming compared to legends arceus then maybe that will become the standard template in the future.

Which sucks, because from what I’m seeing, the things I loved about PLA would fix the problems I’m seeing with SV. If we could just get Gamefreak to slow down and pool their resources into a single project, rather than splitting up all the time, we could really get a masterpiece of a Pokémon game.

Im pretty sure they wont since every pokemon game had something special and unique. But as an exception, in ultra sun/ultra moon , we were able to also get mega evolution besides z moves. They would be honored as gods if they would keep the catching and battle mechanics from legends arceus in scarlet and violet.

I'm aware of this and I don't really care. No one asked for three pokemon games in a years time. Quality over quantity. The monster hunter team at Capcom has two teams as well, but they don't use them to pump out more games. While one team is working on the game currently coming out, the other is working on the next one while taking notes on what the current team is doing. They're not trying to release multiple games in a years time so they can take ideas from the the current game (especially ones that fans turn out liking) and tweak them if needed to fit what they're trying to create. This concept of having two teams is not new. It's not an excuse for missing objective improvements to the franchise that the previous game had.

While I agree to that and get pissed when features are taken only to be reintroduced later as a selling point... I think both of us know how the playerbase would respond if they revealed megas would return. Sure a good portion would be pissed rightfully so, but most would just be hype that it was back. I don't like it, but it's definitely a good marketing idea. I mean in part, cut pokemon returning does the same thing. "My favorite pokemon was cut in one game, but now its here so I HAVE to get this game!". It's extremely scummy, but definitely a successful marketing ploy. Of course charizard will never have to worry about that fate so charizard fans stay winning... Always and forever i guess😂.

@@andrewmcgoblin4016 in all fairness they dropped that catchline back in hoenn when the same or a similar problem popped up then, with not being able to get every mon. Doesn't excuse it especially when the models/animations are no longer being remade and made more lively with very few exceptions (if it were the case I'd be accepting of it since I only use maybe 12 pokemon max and always try to use new ones). Just pointing out that the slogan is no longer used by pokemon, at least for the games. But hey, at least charizard will be in the new game with a new form and be in all of the major trainer's teams :)

We still know basically nothing about these games. The recent trailer didn't really show off anything interesting, we still don't know the name of the region yet. All it showed was 3 lame Pokemon, the box art legendaries, the sexy Professors, and our maybe rival.

As a kid I thought the same thing, I'd never grow bored of Pokemon. But there is just no reason to get excited anymore, anytime they make something new and cool they back peddle just as hard and we're left with the same experiences over and over.

I already hated Gen 5 when I was younger but I never expected how low my opinion for the entire series would become.

Even just hiding players inside of the gym would be a good enough compromise instead of forceing you to log out, do the gym and log back in, or better have special versions depending on how many people enter.

If that's not the case on how they're going to deal with gyms...I don't know what to even say about that. It makes the most sense, in both a world build/narrative aspect, but as well as a balancing aspect. Since Badges have always dictated on how strong your Pokemon can get before they flat up ignore your commands.

Keep the battle mechanics like in gen 8 nothing wrong with that, just the aesthetics need improving (multiple camera angles, livelier animations) and the option to freely roam around the battle as the trainer.

They seemed to put A LOT of focus on multiplayer. TL;DR- I've come to accept that I'm no longer part of the "targetted demographic" of these games, being an adult in their late 20s. That and money is tight

I kinda liked some pokemon here more than sword and shield (sadly lol) given i only liked Morpeko, Corviknight and the water starter I forgot sword and shield faster than any other games im not hating them for no reason but Gen 8 had a lot of potential but they got lazy cut corners and took lots of steps backwards than seen in any pokemon game. Scarlet and violet can be great if they aren't lazy rushed or just an afterthought. I hope it won't disappoint the old fans. For kids swsh is an ideal game to play given you don't need to spend your wits given there is literally no dungeon puzzles or post games like battle frontier or World tournaments that need real strategy and usage of pokemon so ehh

@@maggot848 I think the lowering of health thing is good because it actually requires skill. I think it should be more of a gym badge type thing. Certain levels of Pokemon a catchable outside of battle depending on how many badges you have. Otherwise your skill is lower and you’ll have to battle it down in order to catch it.

Then once every pokemon is updated with genuine "high quality animations", bring back the full dex. That would let them improve the games' animations incrementally to help on dev time since we KNOW they wont abandon the yearly release schedule, while actually giving players visible evidence that yeah, they actually ARE improving shit.

The last game Masuda directed was X and Y. He also supervised Legends Arceus. Blaming bad design on him is ridivuloud. Black and White was his own plot and world, same with Diamond and Pearl's plot, so he doesn't lack in creativity in any way. If anything, the entitlement that fans have ruined his passion for the franchise, and that's why he left. He tried something new by making a lore heavy game, bad reception. He tried something new through heavy Gen 1 pandering and nostalgia baiting, slightly better but still bad reception. You literally can't please people in this fandom. And no, I'm not defending game freak, you're just disrespecting a person who isn't even behind the last two gens and made 2 of the best gens, 3 if you're a Hoenn fan, and supervised Legends Arceus. Sad that people blindly hate him just for being the face of pokemon for so long. Sure, he says a lot of really stupid things and ruined a lot of PR, but we're only talking about game design here, and his vision was never bad. If you look any deeper past the surface, even X and Y had a lot of ingenuity in its design choices, and then all of that died for waifus every game afterwards. Who would have thought pushing a bratty helpless/useless girl in your face for 90% of the game while taking credit for every plot relevant action wouldn't make the people swoon? Same with an edge lord rival with the scary looking softie trope who has the personality of cardboard but wanting to smile is a form of depth to some tasteless people. Masuda never made characters to sell, they only sold due to how well they were made, one came after the other instead of at the same time. He put care in his work, but because no one appreciated it and only eat up flashy/nostalgic things, that's why everything went down hill, NOT because of him. EDIT: I FORGOT LET'S GO GAMES AND BDSP LOL. But still, those games were not as bad and bland as the two gems between it. It was made as a remake of a game without a plot, it was a Yellow remake that no one expected. And well he had his blunder with BDSP because people kept complaining about it not staying true to the original, which I won't excuse him or defend him for at all tbh but that's his last game and you can tell he lost his passion...

Pokémon's apex in game design and storytelling was in Gen V and PLA was relatively close, but all games since XY are official unity fangames by the sheer incompetence in understanding what makes a great Pokémon game. Masuda's mindset with a fanbase of coomsoomers is like a perfect marriage: You can access great amounts of money by doing next to nothing, and still is praised.

@@sparxskywriter2589 I agree with that argument, and I use it a lot for other Pokemon related things. The making contact thing is basically the one and only scenario where I actually think how it's handled in PLA looks worse than the other games, with all the teleporting and motion blur, and not once have I been taken out of immersion because of the physical moves in the mainline games. Maybe that's just me, though. Something I like about most rpgs in general is being able to fill in the attacks with your own imagination, so a repetitive animation or just a text box could be interpreted as anything else. (Not an excuse for terrible animations in modern Pokemon, I just don't think contact is important)
