Today, Christian dives into one of the greatest, most underrated watches there is - the vintage Omega Seamaster.
Released originally in 1948, the watch was billed as the ultimate timepiece for "town sea and country." With a Seamaster, there was simply no need for another watch, in Omega's point of view. And the watch was designed with this in mind. It was water resistant, durable, and yet refined in its design in ways that would make it a dress watch by modern standards.
The movements, too, are beautiful both in design and finishing and in their rugged reliability.

I bought a 1967 vintage Omega with a cal. 565 movement from ebay a year or so ago for $200. The picture in the ad was horrible and I think no one bought it because of that. I noticed that the seller, who was the original owner, was a stamp collector. I had a feeling the watch was in pristine condition and essentially bought it sight unseen. Best purchase ever. Beautiful watch and amazingly accurate... and for $200.

Does the reference number happen to be a seamaster day 166.010? Because I might have the exact one as you do - A 1967 cal. 565 as well. Difference is i got it for over 3x your price! What a lucky find you got there bud.

I purchased an Omega Seamaster at the post exchange during 1962. No recollection of the cost but as a second lieutenant I sure wasn't paid much suggesting the price was a bargain. The original leather band deteriorated years ago. It was grey with Omega spelled out in silver colored letters. I recollect there were "glow in the dark" circles at numbers 12, 3, six, and 9. Long gone. Also on the original hands. Periodic cleaning, maintenance, etc. It still runs nicely and is right here on my wrist.

I purchased my first automatic movement watch in the late ‘80s. It was a 1965 Omega Seamaster with a cal. 552 movement. I still own it and wear on date night with my wife. I own more expensive watches but to me this Omega will always be my gentleman’s dress watch.

My dad bought a 1952, cal 351, with a dial exactly like yours. He wore it for 37 years, passed it onto me 33 years ago. It's 70 years old now, and I wear it daily. Service every 5-6 years. It's like a Volkswagen.

I have the exact model Seamaster you were given on your 21st. I bought it in 1992 and it was my first luxury watch purchase. I still have and cherish it all these years later for all the reasons you noted. Cheers.

When I first started to collect vintage watches about 20 years ago, you could get vintage Omegas for $200 or $300. I knew how good they were because I had one. Should have bought a bunch more when there were really affordable.

The most prized watch in my collection is 1951 Seamaster with the sub-second Dial and bumper wind movement. Passed down to me by my uncle and I wear it often.

My daily wear is a 2220.80 that my dad wore everyday for a decade and passed down to me when I graduated high school. Having worn it everyday since, I've never had a watch so durable and classy at the same time. Absolutely love it, I wear it constantly and its never given me a hint of a problem through some serious abuse lol.

My uncle Burton wore a seamaster in the early 70's although I cannot cite which model it left a lasting impression on me.

I was given an old Seamaster 600 ploprof from my Mother-in-laws estate. It was her late eldest son's first watch which he bought in the late 70's. It was in poor condition so I had it sent back to Omega in Switzerland for a complete overhaul. The watch looks great now. Not sure what it's worth. Omega sent back all the original parts which are slightly different to the original ie: bezel, dial. Not sure if I did the right thing now, value wise.

I don't know if you consider this to be branded content but I certainly do. And this video and your entire channel really is just so informative and high quality that I believe it's branded content done perfect. When I have the money to afford a vintage watch of the calibre that you sell, I can't think of buying anywhere else and as a business student I can't help but take notes.

I found my omega seamaster auto .Bumper movement ...in a charity shop a early seamaster in amazing condition mind blowing I bought 20 watches for £10 the omega was one of those ..Result. Straight on a NATO looks beautyfull for it's age

I am currently selling my Omega Seamaster 18k Automatic Cal.562 from 1966. It is all original and signed case, movements and mechanisms, and in perfect condition still.

Are vintage seamasters water resistant in terms of water splashes and sweat? Considering the watch is in mint condition? Thanks!

Hey Daniel, I would be careful with the watch and not swim with it. Besides that I think it would handle splashes and sweat just fine. But like any vintage watch its better to handle it with care. Just my two cents, I hope this helps.

Do not attempt to rinse under running tap. Else you could just throw into the bin. Most of their dials are so corroded that people think its patina these days

The original caseback was probably replaced, since omega constellation has it’s own caseback

Found a gold plated Omega Seamaster 600 in a drawer at my mothers house a few years back. My family is not 100% sure who it belonged to, but it was most likely my grandfathers. It became my first "real" watch and it's the only watch I'm certain that I'll never sell.

I have a seamaster automatic, my dad bought in the late 40's early 50's afaik. I own it now, it really is a classic, but I am not wearing it, as collectable watches have become a mayor target for street robbery here in Europe.

Omega is one to two clicks above Rolex in terms of quality and innovation but when it comes to popularity, Rolex wins unfortunately. They're both good and I'm not hating on Rolex bc I would love to own 1 or 2 or maybe 3 rolex's but I do feel that omega offers more bang for your buck.
