I’m a model ship builder and always had great interest in early sailing vessels. I find your videos very educational. I watch all your videos and Ohla’s as well. Good luck and keep up the great work.

It is allways interesting and inspiring. So please keep going. Greetings from Germany!

Thank you for the kind words! This means a lot to me! I, too, would rather be talking more about archaeology than kits. :-)

Congratulations and here’s to many more! I do like the archeology. It is the pursuit of accuracy that I appreciate, that and your loaning of your library for review.

All of your "digressions" have given light to many of the arcane things about ships and shipbuilding. I, for one, was a real fan of your Dutch shipyard piece; it helps to see the human element in creating all of these vessels. One or two of your talks have hinted at the rivalry between different nations and navies- some deeper "digressions" on how that has impacted how ships were built and conceived. Until that lecture, I never had thought of "built frame out" and "built bottom up" nor the implications that had on both ship building and ship handling. My late father was a Texas Aggie; he could get a little stuffy when his chosen topic didn't make the table on occasion. Kroum, do what you do; research and tell the histories, give them meaning, show how they effect us still. You've only just begun! Fred PS; Congratulations! Now make it ten K!

Thank you very much for the very kind words! There is so much wonderful information out there about these vessels, the story they tell us. It is fascinating to me! And as I don’t speak from notes, I suppose digressions are Inevitable. I must say I spent some of my best years at Texas A&M! It still is the best nautical program in the world!

Warm Greetings Dr. Batchvarov. A huge CONGRATULATIONS to you on the one year anniversary of your channel. I thoroughly enjoy your channel and try to view each episode as soon as I receive a notification. After viewing your videos, I feel like I've learned something new which often inspires me to research further. Here are a few ideas for future videos: 1. The evolution of the design and construction of the Galleon from the 16th century carracks to the more refined galleon which refers to Mathew Baker's drawing of a mackerel superimposed over a drawing of a 17th Century ship. 2. Evolution of the design and construction of the Clipper Ship from the early 19th century packet ships to the more refined designs of the 1860's by builders such as McKay, Webb and Griffiths. 3. How is a maritime archeological⚓ expedition planned from selection or discovery of the site, government permitting to explore the site, actual exploration of the site and recovery of artifacts. I watched a very interesting video the other day about an archeological team exploring a wreck in the black sea lead by archeologist John Adams. There was a very familiar face in that documentary. Please keep up the great work you are doing on this channel. It really helps neophytes such as myself learn and discover more. Greetings from Seattle Washington USA⚓

Thank you so much for the very kind message and excellent ideas! Yup- Prof Adams was the principal investigator. The film-makers described me as his right hand man. I still wonder if this is compliment, for Jon is left-handed. It was a magnificent, once-in-a-lifetim project!

Kroum congratulations on your first year. Your input is greatly appreciated. I am specially interested in the history of these ships. I am interested in the archeology of the wrecks. Perhaps at some time in the future you may want to introduce your viewers to the 1677 fleet that invaded and defended Tobago. One of my future projects will be to model one of each countries wrecks. Best to,you both. Kevin

When you make reference to the” love of your life “ I expect to hear the name Olha, I know you are referring to your career passion when you say Vasa, but you must admit, it does sound odd when you share your life with such a wonderful, talented , and artistic lady. ( Much younger than Vasa ) Respectfully.

Ah, but remember what Agatha Christie wrote: the best husband a woman can have is an archaeologist: the older she gets, the more interested he is in her. Ms Christie was married to the great British archaeologist Max Mallowan.
