It's been a year and you all have had a lot of questions. It's time for an update and all the details we learned through the year!
Also, great short video, contributed by one of my viewers and new friend “77th Trombone” showing recent fender impact that his vehicle sustained on the factory paint. A great comparison between the tractor paint, and the alternative. • Brittle factory paint ...

Instant thumbs up because you actually interact with the audience and your painting project is actually affordable for a cheap daily driver ~person/cargo hauler 😊 The cost of maintenance for the timing belt, water pump, valve adjustment and new plugs is more than the paint job RiP Honda Van 😢

Just painted my girlfriend's old car using all of your "tips and tricks". The car runs great, but not worth an expensive paint job. It came out beautiful. I did not thin the paint; it rolled out just fine without thinning. I did do 2 days worth of prep and final sanded the whole car with 400 grit wet sandpaper. Thanks for the video series!! Hope you feel better soon.

hope you're feeling better man! great update. ive painted a few cars with this method, along with rattle cans, and also monster liner (look it up if you haven't heard of that... great stuff!) im a small one man shop up here in nd, after about 9 years as a Toyota dealer tech, im thinking of using this farm paint on my old mountaineer, its super clean and almost completely rust free,(brought up from Utah) two Little Rock chips bubbled a bit and its time to redo it all, the paint is cooked.... ive always used a 2 part like, spraymax 2k clear over my rust oleum paints because they fade with uv....but im kinda thinking with the farm paint I wouldn't have too, give it a good buff and wax and call it a day!

I’m feeling much better. Starting to make content again. Finishing up a woodworking project this week. Look in to “roll and tip” painting. Thinner paint more coats! Also, yeah I did the sides of a truck in monster liner once but eventually it went to crap cooking in the sun. It was weird. Thanks for stopping by!

My 99 Jeep Cherokee was painted with white rustoleum 5 years ago and it still looks fine. It's a jeep so it didn't need to look pretty. I use 303 protectant on the entire jeep every 6 months and it keeps it clean. Most times I can wipe it down with a dry microfiber cloth to clean.

@@diycast6914 303 Speed Detailer. No, it doesn't attract dirt. I have a dirt driveway. What I like is it can be used on the entire vehicle. No worrying about getting it on certain surfaces. For glass, I first clean it thoroughly. Including using a clay bar and #0000 steel wool. This allows my silicone wipers to easily remove rain.

I recently did this on a loader for my tractor. A learned a few things I thought I’d share. -these paints settle on the shelves quickly. When you buy it, ask for it to be shaken. Stir it again when you get ready to paint. -expect to throw out the roller tray and roller. This stuff doesn’t come out easy so get the cheap disposable liners. - tractor paint will fade over time. You can polish it back with cutting compound though. Tractor dealers stock the same colors at a similar price, a gallon of rustoleum is about 70 anymore and dealer paint is about 100-110. A little pricier, but the color retention is miles ahead. -Some people like to add a hardener, if you do then you really need to do it outside and while wearing a good respirator. It can destroy your lungs very quickly. -I found that I could roll on a coat of primer, sand it with 120 to smooth out any edges, and then go over with a color coat and it would hide defects better that way.

Pan the Organizer on KZfaq covers a lot of car detailing work. Penetrol Flood is also good as a cheap $10 clear coat (don't let moisture condensate on it before it dries or it will show wipe marks that become white and opaque). I then use Turtle Wax (ceramic) Hybrid Solutions Pro Flex Wax, Graphene Spray Wax that only needs two sprays per panel. The non-graphene version was tested on Project Farm for chemicals and durability. The graphene will give UV protection for the Penetrol, let alone the benefits of a ceramic coat. It's so nice to paint or clear coat without spray cans, compressor, or severely toxic fumes. Ceramics work on everything including plastic, glass, chrome toasters, etc. It's so easy to deal with snow and ice once you get the ceramic coat on. It sprays on and wipes off even easier than wax and lasts a lot longer. Thanks for using the Farm & Implement paint. I've always wondered how well a tractor paint would apply or hold up on a car. That was a nice color. I expected it to be red or green, which are the only colors I've seen. :P
@thejoyoffixing
@thejoyoffixing 9 ай бұрын
Very good tips there with the graphene spray. All of it is good info. And, yes, the farm and implement paint is awesome and there’s virtually no fumes to deal with. Thanks for your comments.

Just saw your short version of the original van repaint. Was cool to see the 1-year update (other than the wrecked condition, of course). I like the new truck and, of course, I want to ask whether you're going to repaint it in similar fashion. Anyway, new to your channel and figured i'd give it some up-thumb and comment love. Cheers!
@thejoyoffixing
@thejoyoffixing 9 ай бұрын
Hi! Thanks for the comments and questions. As far as the new truck goes, it doesn’t really need to be repainted. The only problem is that there is a place where they’re used to be some accessories glued along the body and those accessories are gone so those have some rusty spots. I may just paint , those strips and tape them off to make them look nice. Otherwise, the rest of the truck can probably just be buffed and look amazing. I do have another car coming maybe in the next few months though.

I am about to do it to my 4 runner. You can’t buy Rust-Oleum farm and implement or have delivered to store in California. I bought on eBay from China and is in the mail. I have a few question. Do you think it would benefit tho not necessary to add a small amount of hardener ? I want to go all out on this cheap paint job for can’t see myself spending for professional job when I do go off-road with it. Would it benefit me to use thinner and do more coats. I have black car and painting black. I want to do the best job possible and won’t be in a hurry to get vehicle on the road.
@thejoyoffixing
@thejoyoffixing 9 ай бұрын
Get all depends on what you’re looking for. If you want it smoother, I would say more coats and more thinner. Hardener is already in this mix. It’s tough enough for tractor attachments. I would also say go back to the short, edit video that I mentioned in this video and read through the comments because every question you could possibly ask is going to be answered there somewhere. Congrats on the 4Runner! Also good job ordering the paint!

🇺🇸👍 Bottom Line a car, truck, what ever is to get from point A to point B Safely. So if mechanical and physical are good, what’s left is visual and that falls under Pride, but unless you live in the sticks and don’t go far you can’t have anything nice. I have in my life (69 years) have bought 3 brand new vehicles all 3 within 1 year have been hit by careless drivers the last happening last week $10,000 in damage and it’s only 6 months old. My 68,74,75,76,77, and 80 they run drive but don’t get hit they all need paint but why ? So they look and I feel better about them yes, but that cell phone talking or distracted person is waiting to get you. So the do paint is a great answer and no matter how it turns out it’s one color.
