Can walking 10,000 steps a day really change your life? Follow Jason Lanier as he goes from hip replacement surgery to walking over 1,000 MILES without stopping for 6 months straight.
In early 2020 Jason had hip replacement surgery to fix an issue he's had since being a young boy called Leg Perthes Disease. In addition to his hip problems Jason was born with deformed ankles that required him to wear ankle braces his entire adult life. The doctors only solution is to perform ankle fusion surgeries.
Before taking that route, Jason decided to take on the 10,000 steps a day challenge to see if it would improve his health. Not only to help with the chronic pain and lack of mobility that he suffered, but also with the weight gain that had taken place on his body due to the lack of activity he was able to do on a daily basis.
This video takes you through the journey that Jason underwent as he went from a walker to assist him with walking to jogging on the Dalton Highway in Alaska.
It's an in depth look at the struggles many overweight and disabled people go through, and Jason hopes by sharing his journey it will help other people out there as well to overcome the challenges they face in their lives.
Thanks for watching.

I just seen a KZfaq doctor says 10,000 a day of walking is useless. This video 100% proves him WRONG! Definitely trying this. Thank you for the inspiration!

The fact that KZfaq doesn’t have a ”love” button is a shame. You can see the changes in your face. You can hear the change in your voice. You are such a strong person, and an inspiration to me. Keep it up, there’s nothing you can’t accomplish.

Found this today, after having a longer period of being on SSRI (anti-depression meds), having gained more weight than ever before in my life. I've watched so many "just get it together and work out"-videos, but struggled so much with motivation. But this is it. Not just as a fellow photographer, but just a human being, seriously Jason... thank you. Thanks for showing us it's possible. You're a true gem. This is the day I start getting my 10.000 steps in.

I an a veteran and former police officer. I remember about 3 years ago I had to retie from the police department because my body just couldn't do it anymore, to much Army and Police work that lead to it. it has become a very difficult thing to just walk. I started walking and could only make it about a half a block before i had to sit and then could walk anymore. Now I make it about 1 mile a day. So, when I see you do this I feel your pain and applaud your strength. its a tough business our bodies, just walking can transfer our minds and bodies!

I'm really proud of your dedication to improve the health of your body. Losing the weight and strengthening your leg and angle muscles will serve you well as you age. Last year I was having issues with my feet and I determined to lose weight. Over the next 11 months, I lost 40 pounds, and you know, at my size, 40 pounds on me is like 100 pounds on you. Between that and changing my shoes and slippers to arch support shoes, my foot issues have disappeared. So I know the toll that weight takes on your feet and knees and best you work on that now while you're still a young man and not wait until you're old and do more damage, as I did. Keep up the good work. Love you man.

About three years ago I started to lose feeling in my left foot. I then started losing feeling in my right. I have a spinal injury that caused weakness in my left leg that became permanent nerve damage. I made a promise to myself to not let it hinder me. I started walking and then lifting weights everyday. Today I hit 656 days without a day off. It's a choice for my mobility and my health. So glad you shared this. It's difficult to stay motivated for sure. I look at it as a lifestyle change. I've had good days and plenty of bad ones, so I'm right there with you brother. Keep up the great work!
