@@108Performance I''m 65 and my very first handgun in 1972, and I STILL love them. If I could have but one gun, the 1911 would be it...hands down. I'm here watching this video because I watched your new TRP release video yesterday.(2024)

I picked up a TRP (regular dust cover) many years ago from a retired CA LEO. Changed the grips, rear sight, trigger, pins, guide rod, mag release, slide release, grip screws, hammer and barrel with 10-8 offerings of the time. Fed by Wilson 47Ds with the coveted 10-8 base plates. (Fiber front sight is from Dawson, because of reasons….) It was good before, but now it’s a scalpel. (Thank you) Even though it’s out of carry rotation, I still enjoy what it has become.

New subscriber. Very nice video of this weapon. Im retired now just moved to South Carolina and was thinking of picking one up. I've loved 1911s for decades. To me it's sentimental value (it's not the best or worse gun in the world it has its plus/minus). I carried one as a Military Policeman in the Marine corps in the 80s and I trusted it with my life. Mine rattled like a cup with ice in it lol but it was dependable, shot well and never gave me any problems. I'm sure this one will be a bit nicer then the one I carried. Keep up the nice work.

I got a 2017 TRP with the quarter rail. Love it, so accurate. Replaced the guide rod and put in a Dawson Precision guide rod. Perfect!

I’ve had mine since 2005. My first real 1911 when I turned 21 that year. Going on 17 years and probably 10k rounds I guess you could say it’s a keeper.

I have a TRP Operator in 10mm. Mine has the traditional bushing / barrel configuration. Personal requirement for me. I run a Surefire X300 on it and carry it on duty. Love it .

I have a dumb question. Why do you prefer the traditional bushing? Does it help with accuracy? I was wondering what the difference is between that and a bull barrel.

I prefer it mainly because it can be field stripped without tools. Bull barrels usually require a pin or paper clip. Not sure if it is more accurate than the bull barrel but a worn bushing is cheap to replace .

Have a trp operator and a professional model.. the trp is 95% the same gun in function... Great gun for the money ... One of my favorites I own

The Full rail Springfields are very cool. I don't have baby hands but I detest the 20 LPI of the TRP Op, the bull barrel and adjustable sights, I owned, I much prefer SACS (when they actually were a custom shop) High cut Machine 25LPI. I now own a Full Rail loaded model and will one day have it sent off for some work. Only thing I wish is SA would make a Full Rail in 9mm as I find 9mm 1911's to be a lot of fun.

I have a full rail TRP operator just like that one from about 2001. Still holding out hope you’re going to release or I should say re-release a pair of those grips you used to make that I never quite snagged be pair of when they were available.

The 6355 and anything else marked for the TRP Operator with a light will work as it's molded for the light and not the frame.

I just bought that same gun used. It shoots well and is becoming my favorite .45 pistol. The barrel lockup, however, is loose as a two dollar whore despite the fact the parts are numbered like they’re supposed to actually fit together😂

Love mine, just wish it came in 9mm. Make sure to try some 185 FMJ in it. With an X300U on the front end, it tracks very nicely. 230 ball it very workable. Make sure to check the barrel legs for “barrel bump” after you get some round through it. Mine was fit very badly, and needed some stone work.

Sadly a cone bbl full weight slide gun like this wouldn’t cycle well with a 9mm.

Springfield Armory makes 1911s that some would say have custom features but without the price that is associated with custom guns. Are they (SA) able to do this through MIM parts? I believe in one of our vids that you stated the price difference between a TRP and lower tier SA 1911s was not due to fitting or parts quality, but options on model has over another.

I’m new to 1911 and just picked up a TRP Full Rail. At 11:38 you said to just trash the stock mags. I guess that means they aren’t great but is there a reason why I shouldn’t use them for range days and switch to better quality mags for self defense? Are the stock mags going to cause any damage to my 1911?

Hey Hilton is it possible to find a full length dust cover pistol grip only? I really like them however my trp is the short dust cover version. Great pistol!

The factory guns come with the plates. Otherwise, get CHPWS plates.

Why aren’t more manufacturers of 1911’s offering these in 9mm? Talking about a hot market, I imagine the 1911 in 9mm is the cross point of 2 major features sets that most folks would be looking for? Especially with a full rail option.

The demand isn’t there for a full-size 1911 in 9mm because you can get better options for full size 9mm pistols

@@creekochee3592 depends on what you define as better. Better trigger than 1911? Haven’t found one on a polymer option yet.

@@artimla492 Maybe things that aren’t diminishing returns? Capacity, weight, size. Sure 1911 will have a great trigger but you have triggers in polymer frames that you can run accurately and fast and are objectively good triggers. Or just buy a Staccato C2.

"The M3 wasn't very good." No...the M3 sucked! Mine worked about 50% of the time. Of course if you gave it a good slap against something it would miraculously come back to life...for a bit.

Unpopular opinion. This gun does nothing for me. I don’t like the rear sights. I don’t like the guide rod. I don’t like the full rail. I don’t like the lack of an undercut trigger guard. I don’t like the fact that it says TACTICOOL on the frame. I would take the Standard Operator over this all day.

That goofy, gaudy light looks absolutely ridiculous! I own two Operators, the traditional pic rail and the full pic rail. All you need on them is the SureFire X300 Ultra. Not that landing light you have on there. Throw that in a garbage can where it belongs. 👍
