In my opinion the only thing wrong with God Of War Ragnarok was that the climax felt rushed. The final battle in Asgard could’ve been more fleshed out.

I didn’t mind how long it was, I only disliked many of the Atreus sections. Don’t get me wrong, They were great the first time around from a story perspective….but I’m reluctant to replay it since you are not doing much in those sections and they can’t be skipped. The same goes for Spider-Man(1) and all those MJ mini missions😢

As someone saved just before the climax of Midnight Suns for the last few months, I don't want it to end. I loved hanging out with most of the heroes. The gameplay is awesome enough that I enjoyed doing low impact missions just for that next upgrade, card to perfect my decks or to level my friendships.

Unpopular opinion: I am very happy with Rebirth. I love that world and just had an absolute blast exploring and doing sidequests. Admittedly, sone of the mini-games are rage inducing so I just get Rank 1 in those and move on. I know the trophy hunters and completionists can find it frustrating and I do sympathize. On the other hand, people complained that Remake was too easy. Or they complained that XV didn't have enough variety. Maybe Square-Enix over corrected but I definitely feel like I got my money's worth.

The mini games outside of the Gold Saucer and before being patched just made me repeatedly say, "I'm not having fun anymore." I actually turned the game to easy as well to finish Sephiroth because of that horrible final move of his and the sliver of time given to stop it. I just wanted the game's ending and later, I'll go back and do it properly, probably with my hard mode run. But by the time I finished Rebirth, I just felt exhausted and I hate to say that. I will defend most things FF7 related till my dying breath and yet Rebirth...Rebirth might be my one exception. Still enjoyed it overall, but I think I almost prefer Remake, even with its linearity and padding.

Ghost of Tsushima should be a template of how to make side quests meaningful and not filler. FF7 Rebirth felt like I was playing Assassin's Creed. It felt like a bunch of minigames with side of story (which was great to be fair).
@makasete30
@makasete30 Ай бұрын
A weird comparison for me to read. I absolutely hated Assassin’s creed which became repetitive. Never felt that with Rebirth. Sure it’s got a huge amount of mini games but they are some absolute bangers and I can skip most of them and continue the main story. The side quests are excellent and develop the characters and world well. And the combat is deep and rewarding. FF16 on the other hand, has some of the most mundane side quests I’ve ever experienced that overstay their welcome. It’s starts out a lot of fun, excellent Voice acting and world building, but the combat did become repetitive . It needs to be more challenging with RPG elements and upgrades included to add depth and longevity.

They had to patch at the very least Fort Condor, but I did try the double fight of Bahamut Arisin and Titan and that was just brutal, lol. I did realize from it that I hadn't maxed out all of my weapon skills though, so I went and did that, but it was still brutal. Bahamut Arisin on his own was a tough fight so pairing them together is harsh. But at least those are more optional than any side quest that then also keeps you from getting skill points for the characters.

I can sometimes see the argument of games being too long, and i definitely agree with the Less is More idea, especially when it comes to the "Ubisoft open-world Bloat", but opem-world/sandbox/RPG's are never too long in my opinion, they're entire purpose is for you to live in their worlds. Just pick and choose what side content you want to do or have time for. Also, no F'n way was Ragnarok too long. That game was so good that i felt sad when it ended and wished it would go on for 10 more hours or so. It wasn't much longer than the first one! I know because I've Platinum'd both

Same. The extremely mundane side quests opening up everywhere didn’t help. That game should have cut a lot of that content and it would be a far better experience for many. Combat needed some RPG status effects or something to encourage the player to explore more as there is a lot of potential there. I would have loved the world having secrets hidden in it to find or having meaningful upgrades. Rebirth may have too much content for some, but it’s a much better Final Fantasy IMO. A shame it’s not selling well apparently.

Far from a masterpiece... I'm playing it again and it's amazing how dull it all is when you know what happens in the story, at no point does the player think anything else will happen than Odin dies and Kratos wins

I love a long RPG to get my teeth into but FF7 Rebirth felt so bloated. A lot of side content actively detracted from the main story.

I am a jrpg girl at heart. So...20 hours isn’t overstayed its welcome. We are just getting started. 😅 as for Luigi's mansion 3? It was fine. I think the most annoying part was the professor who wouldn’t shut up. I don't remember him talking this much in the prequels. I haven’t played okami in awhile, but i remember enjoying it.

I still think it's a bit rich, dividing a game up into 3 parts and charging over $100 a pop, when once it was a single game. I hope this isn't a trend that catches on.

Any game that has a ton of filler is a game where publishers told them to meet a certain time length. Those games, in general, are never good. I loved Red Dead Redemption because it was a nicely paced for the time it took to get through. I hated RDR2 because there was so much filler that I got bored with it by the 30 hour mark, knowing I still wasn't even halfway through. This is another reason why I will always prefer a linear game over open world ones. And Jules, I am taking that "Fe fi fo go f**k yourself" line and am going to use it. That is a brilliant line.

Okay so I feel like y'all misunderstood the comment I made yesterday. Lol. Where I appreciate the attempt at framing the video in a positive light, it ultimately falls back to focusing on the negative. And arguably one of the most trivial things in games. The games are either too long or too short. Smh. Let's just enjoy the games yeah? More content the better. If you feel like it's too much, then just put it down. I don't see the fuss.

Would you rather pay full price for an amazing game that by all accounts runs a lot shorter than expected or a bloated 30 hour game that undeniably has a great 10-15 hours in there just with too much filler? X
