I forget the original quote/speaker but a scientist once said something along the lines of "If I one day see above the clouds, it will be by standing on the shoulders of giants." Basically the modern intellectual giants recognize that they are riding on the successes of those that came before, and that others will carry their discoveries even further.

You realize that making plastics at that time would be even more absurd, right?
@jackfarmboy7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say More absurd. Seeing that we know plastic can exist where as we have no actual proof of a flexible glass. While I will admit something along the lines of a tempered treated glass similar to corning glass would be way more likely. Either way all 3 are pretty absurd, but if we are going to discuss an ancient tale about a supposed material that may or may not have actually existed based off 2 second hand accounts ..... We may as well be creative. Thoughts?
@guy-s7 жыл бұрын
I think that it's absurd to have flexible glass or plastic, the tale is simply that: a tale. Just because people spoke of dragons and witches so much, made paintings/writings, etc. doesn't mean they existed like people assume

Umm, quick note on Damascus steel. It is an art that has been around for many years, and is still practiced today. It isn't a long-lost technique that hasn't been practiced in ages. Its properties are a result of a mixture of harder, high carbon steel and softer, low carbon steel, forge welded together into often beautiful patterns. Other alloys have been used and can be used to change the strength or appearance of the end product. You were right about wootz steel l, it was amazing and the specific formula has been lost, but it was not necessary for something to be considered a Damascus steel blade (so not all Damascus was made the same way or strength, different cultures had different styles and resources)

Actually ancient people were very intelligent. Flush toilets we're discovered in Egypt long before the concept was ever thought of in modern time. How were door thousands of pounds able to swing open by the touch of a child? How were huge and heavy stones erected into structures hundreds of feet tall? Well we were unfortunately taught that somehow ancient man was evolving and never had the intelligence to invent, create or discover.....but that's not true! The Mayan's built an intricate canal system to keep enemies out of this walled city. Spanish explorers were shocked when they came upon this majestic city, what is known today as Mexico City.

What if the 20k years before human recorded history, that we know next to nothing about, had humans even more advanced than we all today? And how many artifacts today being the remnants of such times before that fall of humanity? (Or maybe they just left, and what people claim today as ancient aliens) Most of our technology today leaves no long term environmental impact compared to something like the pyramids. Because all these pyramids were constructed all around the world at relatively small periods of time, and vast distances dividing them. How do you communicate something across an undetermined amount of future generations? Build something that can withstand the tests of time.

Dude, you forgot a lot of info about the Pyramids of Giza. The theory of alien intervention became a thing because 1. they are perfectly aligned with the North Pole, and 2. If you take their perimeters and divide them by 2x the height, you get the first 15 digits of pi. It took 2 millenniums after the creation of this to discover the first 4 digits of pi.

I know the stones. They are area denial weapons for cavalry and landing crafts. Similar things were used in WW2.

At 10:45-46 why did your video just cut out like that? Is there something you can't say there? You started #10 with "...discovered cuscode...it was built on a hill top..."?

svon1 Actually the Greeks believed that the world was shaped like a shield and hovered over Hades, Tartarus, Nyx, and chaos and the sun was a god riding a chariot with flying horses.. And the Romans believed that the planets were gods and the Romans also prevented the progress of the knowledge of disease, so....
@mordec10166 жыл бұрын
Alen S that's false. The catholic church built universities and advanced science -- especially astronomy, architecture and medicine. There were some big advancements in the middle ages. It's a common myth that they were "the dark ages"; read about the myth of the dark ages

tuxedopen actually you're wrong on that, In ancient Greek Astronomy, the example of global earth gradually spread all over the world by subverting the cosmological belief in a flat Earth

It a replica. The Actual Blade was forge differently with rare Mineral. Legend has it that they use gem of a rare material and the forge method was ancient that ancient ancestors said they were forge by the Prodigy of Vulcan... Imma stop talking ahaha

I'm going to make a useless machine that does nothing but looks intricate. In a million years people or aliens will find it and spend years trying to figure out its useless use.
@MarceloDiCocco6 жыл бұрын
To be fair, the Antikythera mechanism was a calculator rather than a computer, and was used as a calendar, that could "translate" from Sun calendar to Moon calendar, and predictor of eclipses, and possibly the position of planets in the sky, against the zodiac. It also had a moon fase ball that rotated, and the whole mechanism was powered by winding it with a crank. Amazing mechanism! It was not "out of time", but rather serves as sample on the level of science and technology achieved in the most advanced civilization in ancient times, before the millennia of middle age obscurantism.

What if the Greek fire had an amount of potassium which actually combust when combined with water
@WhyMeghan7 жыл бұрын
That would make sense seeing as how Potassium and Water can't really bond as both of them don't have enough electrons to share.

RTB Plays that's a cool thing, and I like that too, but this is not the source to do it. the entries of this list are misleading, and several are completely fabricated. I would recommend Kurzgesagt, Adam ruins everything, last week tonight w/ John Oliver, or Scishow.

Matt, I'm wondering, can you grow hair or do you just not like hair?
@thecraftycyborg90247 жыл бұрын
The Legend Of Jax - He can't grow it. You can tell by the appearance of his scalp. His head around the sides and backs looks like a 5 o'clock shadow most of the time, but the top is always shiny and smooth. That's because he grows no hair on top and thin hair on the sides. Like many younger guys who went bald even younger, he's chosen to shave his head. (A dear friend of mine started losing his hair when he was 15. I've told him he should go for this look, I think it'd be cute on him, but he's not a big fan of the idea.)

Correction for your video the Antikyhera Mechanism was a tool for the greeks to calculate the sportevents than happens each year every 4ft year we know as the olympics by calculating the movement of the moon and the visible planets like jupiter saturn and mars they could meassure the exact date and time for these events. love your videos keep em comming ;)

@WhyMeghan7 жыл бұрын
well back in ancient Egyptian times, it was very unlikely for something like that to be built. It's quite large and no one knows how it was done. Many people like to say something and say that it's true but really, without evidence, we can't know for sure.
