Funny that even in this video there's a black guy holding the sign. As a black guy myself, I see the danger of it since white supremacy stuff has weirdly and unironically come back even harder. But I know when I was growing up, we found this character funny because he represented every minority that tries to assimilate and then self hates. He was definitely the definition of heel for an audience of diverse NYC young adults.

@@meldrickedwards1892it wouldn't make sense then. The whole joke is that a non-white person LARPing as the cringiest suburban golf playing, lame clothes wearing, lawn-mowing, unspiced food eater. A white guy with that gimmick would be just "boring white guy".

@@Holku0EDM is much better than the stock rock music they got after CFO$ quit. Emma's track and later heel remix is a legit hit outside of wrestling and they're back to electronic music thankfully for a lot of women now.

I actually liked the "really" catch phrase because it makes me think of people lying and being able to see through the lie or someone over exaggerating on what they're saying.

Except that everyone was saying it before he even started using it. He adopted it from pop culture. Belatedly. Cringe factor of 9.5 /10

I never seen Miz's "really" as a new "what" chant. Miz's character has a big ego and cocky personality. Saying "really" repeatedly seems just something he would naturally say to annoy the opponent.

No The Miz didn't go from "Smackdown Host" to Superstar he went from AN ANNOYING FRIGGIN NERD WHO EVERYONE LAUGHED AT FOR WANTING TO BE A WRESTLER AND CALLING HIMSELF "THE MIZ" ON A SEASON OF THE REAL WORLD ON MTV. He MIGHT BE the smartest person in the business currently how he flipped his 15 min in to an entire HOF career!

That's because it was a common phrase and Miz just adopted it. Belatedly. In typical WWE fashion, using popular themes after they peaked without even understanding what it meant in the first place.

The wild thing is, I feel like some of these lines could've worked with a bit of workshopping, or if delivered from a differnt character. Like, "It should have been me" can be a pretty good comedic catchphrase if delivered by a comedic character. In fact, the 4Kids Dub of Yu Gi Oh has proven that because that exact phrase is a meme thanks to the delivery of it. Same goes for the "I'm not a bad guy" line. That could've been great if it came from a heel that was talking crap about how great he was, because he's so full of himself that he sees himself as being above the very concept of heels and babyfaces. Sometimes the lines ARE just bad, but almost any line can work if delivered bynthe right person.

The only thing with DDP that I wonder is that even if they had rolled with him as a main eventer, how much did he have left in the tank? Didn't he pretty much retire in late 2002?
