My high school marching band got banned from 3 Denny's restaurants in Orange County, an Italian restaurant in San Diego, and the city of Buttonwillow. Not surprising, many of my classmates went on to Stanford.

I went to UC Davis, where the Cal Aggie Band-UH! had a nearly Stanford band reputation. It had been nearly disbanded several times for their immature (aka typical college student) behavior. From what I heard from a more recent graduate who had played in the band, the school administration had beat the band into submission about 15 years ago. No fun allowed because it might hurt someone's feelings.

Your passing comment about the word "luv" being sexist made me think about common words of greeting here in the American South. It is perfectly acceptable and polite for a member of one gender to greet someone of the opposite gender using words like hon, honey, sweetheart, baby, and varying terms of affection. This often happens between complete strangers at stores, restaurants and other places of business. Sure, it's possible for these words to be used offensively, but what ultimately matters is the context and tone of voice.

just as a note: institutionalized people (and sometimes just people who go to the hospital) have been sterilized without their consent. it STILL happens. and if you are placed under a conservatorship in america they can force implanted birth control or have you sterilized (see recent celebrity cases)

Yes, sterilisations without consent are possible in almost any country, however pretty much all these cases are because life is at risk and the consent can't be given (example: complications during childbirth). The most common cause is sterilisation of a woman in a civilised country without consent is when she already had her third C-section. It used to be after the second one. Depends on the country. Doctors usually try to lower the risk of future complications and the consensus is that it is not worth risking more than three. There are exceptions, of course.

When I heard Australian parliament had banned "mate", I thought it would be because, when proper inflection is used, it is definitely a substitute for the other four letter word Karl mentioned 😂

Not a ban, but a rumor that people that are dressed differently from the norm in any Disney park. They are followed by plain clothes security until they leave the park. So if you have a 13 year old wearing a goth like outfit at a Disney park. The security are watching your family closely

I think you're getting confused with the Disney ban on anyone other than small children wearing costumes. If an adult or older child is dressed in a costume, they might be mistaken for a Disney employee. This is a particular problem when young children are encouraged to go to the nearest employee they can find if they get separated from their parents.

As a Goth that's been to Disney they must be very covert in their surveillance because I never noticed being followed and I'm already a watchful person. I'm also heavily pierced and tattooed which typically leaves me open for being followed by security. I typically don't notice that at theme parks, Disney included.

Used to be the acquaintance of an intellectually challenged guy who had a healthy sex drive. He was actually VERY attractive, looking a bit like a very fit Timothee Chalamet, with just as wild hair, everyone calling him “Playboy.” (I have no idea what his real name was.) We didn’t quite know how “challenged” he was, until one day he started bragging about winning some Olympic gold medals. We were all giving him a hard time … until we realized that he was talking about gold medals he had won in the Special Olympics. 😅 Everyone quickly pivoted to congratulating him for his Olympic medals, us apologizing for ever doubting him. 🥴

The spiders can't hurt you episode SHOULD be banned. As an Aussie that's the most stupid thing you can tell a child. Should they be scared of them? No, but most definitely cautious and aware that they can harm or kill you if you play around with them.

He was a paid presenter for TopTenz, Biographics, and Geographics. After the original owner passed away and there were some communication issues with the daughter, Simon left to focus his energy on his own channels and those he co-owns with Daven. He's been gone since September or so.

Backflips are still illegal in figure skating, the result of which is France's Adam Siao Him Fa taking a two-point deduction for including one in his free skate at the European Championships this year. Still cool to watch though!

These days words like luv and dear and hon etc I tend to keep for those closer to me. It's funny though that when I do slip up and say it to a stranger they tend to smile and not want my apology 💜 I think it's become offensive to some as these words can be used in a derogitary way, esp from older men to young women. For the last couple of years I've worked really hard to make sure I call women, women and not girl. I wouldn't call a grown man boy so I get the point on that one and it's not hard to change once your aware and make an effort💜 In 57 and live in Australia where affectionate names comes from our english heritage but I've never heard of when "mate" was banned 😂

It's been a bit, couple months maybe. The now owner of the channel admitted to some poor management choices and there became a separation between them and Simon. The original owner of the channel passed away and his daughter took over. I'm sure between the grief and learning an entirely new job, mistakes were made. She posted a video where she explains everything. Her dad had just died, I think we're all allowed a couple kerfuffles when something like that happens. It was an amicable separation.

2:24 Is that legal? I don’t know where England stands when it comes to free speech - I thought it was roughly the same as America. I can see a judge prohibiting certain language in the courtroom or maybe (in the spirit of a restraining order) being restricted from saying a slur to an individual who has been relentlessly harassed, but banning a person from saying it again… Ban Paris Hilton from saying “hot” and you’ve cut her vocabulary in 1/2. Eliminate “sliving” (which is the worst portmanteau I’ve ever heard) and you might as well teach her sign language.

One difference between the free speech of America vs Britain is Britain has more stringent libel laws. Which is why some celebrities have brought libel cases up in Britain to get damages, but don’t bring those same cases up in America (Tom Cruise is an example of that). Which is surprising because Britain has a very active tabloid media history, where libel comes frequently. Those libel laws are probably trying to reign that tabloid culture in.

@@dafttool Tom Cruise (and I think John Travolta) used to sue when there were stories about him being gay. It seems very sporadic. I think usually the American celebs don’t want to bring more attention to the allegation. But British tabloids are relentless, and I’m sure they have more of a history of reporting the truth, so I can see it being much worse over there.

@terrafirma5327 Exactly. I'm a cook and baker. I hate when someone says, "I don't like it." That's not helpful. Why don't you like it? So many people complain about Karl not being Simon, well tough luck. There's nothing that Karl can do about it. We can be supportive and help Karl become a slightly more professional presenter. Although, I love him on Fact Fiend and Wikiweekends.
