10 Biggest Humanity's Land Vehicles in Warhammer 40k Universe

This video presents big land vehicles that are fielded by humanity in the 40k universe. These things are just over the top and massive in size, so big that tanks look like toys in front of them. They are in a league of their own, some with firepower and size that rivals the titans and even completely dwarf them.

40k really has no idea of scaling. If the barrel of the Captiol Imperialis main cannon is as big as four battle tanks, that thing is way higher than fifty metres and more in line of the sizes fans believe Titans have, with an Imperator or even a Warlord being as tall as the Eiffel Tower.

While your not wrong about scaling I think the "four tanks" might mean in a line rather than 4 tanks wide.

While Nutbug cited the sources correctly, old Warhammer lore is sometimes messy and can get mixed up, I always assumed the barrel in question is that of the Leviathan (you can see it around 5:00, every picture has one)

@@jakerubino3233 I'm with you 100% on this, been a fan long enough to be proud of the Orks conquering MoreDakka Prime in the first 13th crusade :D with my friends part of the game was that if your codex says a different version of something, it's because your faction spreads filty propaganda; when a successive edition of my codex ties up something, it is because we managed to gather more information; and overall part of the charme of the setting was precisely trying to understand 'the truth' trough the mist of millenia and the many unreliable sources (and often even in your own codex, the 'real truth' was alluded in a paragraph halfway trough, and was an uglier version of the nice picture in the first pages). It's too big of a gap to really relate with recent fans, it's like trying to explain space marines are neither the good guys nor live a desiderable life, to someone who knows 40k from the videogames. This is the first video of Nutbug I see, I like his work I think it helps to expand immagination for the young blood. edited for typoes and such

Neath thing about the mastodon is both the front and rear fully open, allowing the vehicle to ram fortification walls, and act as an entrance into the bastion not just for the troops inside, but the many following behind it as well. Kind of reminds me how certain Churchill tanks were outfitted to be used as mobile bridges for wide rivers. I must also add another entry. When the Sons of Horus attacked the Saturnine wall from below, the Emperor's Children acted as a distraction, attacking the surface. They assaulted the wall upon giant constructs named "Donjon Pattern Siege Engines", described as quadrupedal aircraft carriers, with each leg be as large as a Warlord Titan's own, and the flat upper deck carrying multiple attack craft. To get a reference of what this may look like, search up "armored core spirit of motherwill"; its basically that, but with 4 legs instead of 6.

People forget the scale of warfare that encompasses a planetary assault where even super heavy vehicles like the baneblade or even titans are dwarfed when compared to the general scale of the war where unlike modern day earth, some planets are nothing more than massive fortresses with mile thick concrete and so being able to smash their way and effectively siege an enemy held position is useful especially when titans aren’t around such as the case of the shadow sword

@@stephenpiper2690 As much as it would be funny. The "fact" that it is a light tank is consistently spread around the fanbase but there is not a single source anywhere that could link to any official lore material that states so. I believe it originates with the fact that tech was much more advanced during Dark Age of Technology. With Knights being incredibly common, often being used for lumber and construction, too. The Terminator suits being used to protect workers in nuclear reactors. And so on, and so forth.

@@notdoomguy1616 I could see that baneblade tanks were used as exploration vehicles(scouts) when humanity was in its golden age whenever they arrive in a new planet to colonize. If humanity pre 40k used terminator armor as hazardous material protection suits then it would be a possibility.

Warhammer 40K is fun within its own logic. However, in the future, whichever army controls the space above the planet wins, no matter what. Not even the largest titan can withstand a 500 ton tungsten kinetic energy projectile (perhaps guided by small rockets or tiny fins) hitting it at mach 20. The only place for ground troops will be for stealthy, infiltration and sabotage missions.

This. 40K is a universe with miles long ships bristling with guns. Any vehicle that is too small to fight them (anything smaller than an Ordinatus) and too large to hide from them (anything larger than a Leman Russ) is pretty much useless.

Warhammer lore comes from many different places, including of course video games and illustrated rulebooks, but there are also hundreds of novels written about the setting. I must have seen one too many videos about 40k by now but I'm starting to get the inside jokes. I think it's safe to say at such a scale we have no clue how the mechanics would be possible from today's perspective. Don't need an engineering degree to figure that out. They build even now satellites that have to withstand the ridiculous forces of rocket launches while also being incredibly lightweight. We've built computer guidance systems that go inside Artillery shells. The vast majority of the interior facilities in the Cheyenne Mountain Complex were designed to withstand the shaking of nearby nuclear detonations. The NASA crawler is a tracked vehicle that uses advanced computers and gyroscopes and shit to make sure that the things loaded up top (Namely couple hundred foot tall rockets and launch towers) aren't disturbed, shaken, or tipped. Soooo, yeah. I wouldn't want to be the guy in charge of maintaining the stabilization systems on one of those kinds of monstrosities but assuming we could crack the material sciences problems of building an actual frame that wouldn't just shit the bed as soon as the hydraulics twitched, we could probably build something like that now and even have buildings full of happy non-crushed & not motion sick inhabitants... And Golden age humans were tossing around blackholes for shits and giggles so I imagine they could finagle it...

Many long term captains in the novels say they can feel every touch on the shield and how much it moves from a salvo and the shops are said to have the best integrity fields and tech too and they are in a void being hit on a shield and they move but a giant city taking a step in the environment with its weight crashing down on a planet doesn't?

Maybe some teleporter nonsense but most definitely wacky for wackies sake.
