The short step walk is not because we are in a rush, but rather because a lot of us adapt of stride to match that of a female partner who typically is shorter than us. It’s easier to walk holding hands or with an arm around a partner if we adopt the same stride length.

Excellent advice.I have started using these today, and I have already noticed some changes in people's behavior. However, I have two objections: I don't think that taking too much space makes someone seem dominant. I fear that, if anything, it makes them appear egocentric and that they don't take others into consideration. And that is certainly not a way to attract the ladies. Also, sitting too close to her too soon might intimidate her. I have heard many women say that keeping a safe distance in order to show her that you are respecting her private space is vitally important.

All these are great tips. I'd like to expound Looking straight ahead while walking will naturally cause people to shift out of your way giving you space. This is due to the sense of definite direction as that's what your body language is indicating you have. Also using your hands while talking turns people to be widely ingulfed into whatever it is you're saying. Also, talk with down tones for authority. Be relaxed and cordial while doing this and people are more likely to not only listen but do as you say.

for the ones involving handshakes, i am usually not trying to dominate, I am usually trying to show competence and a forword traditional friendly approach. unnerving someone can be useful but i disagree with trying to undermine the other on every occasion
@bupegasus
@bupegasus Жыл бұрын
100% you nailed it, there doesn't need to be a "dominant" and "submissive" in a handshake. Handshakes are supposed to be an invitation to conversation, you don't have to dominate someone to show confidence in convo. As long as you're not doing the weird limp handshake, just make eye contact and smile
@matthewm674
@matthewm674 9 ай бұрын
I agree, if you're overtly trying such tricks to dominate on a handshake, you can guarantee this person is going to hate you for it unless they're super submissive. And that's not a good start with someone you have just met. A confident strong handshake is always the best, unless someone tries to do such tricks to you and then you up your game (and you will hate them for it too).
@outlaweduk
@outlaweduk 7 ай бұрын
hand to the side for a handshake not palm down or up, it shows your on equal terms,and even if they try to meet with palm down stick by your palm at the side ,it shows its equal or nothing,as soon as contact with hands is made then go palm down,works well if they offered palm down as you got em beat,you just dominated a dominator,and it shows you not taking their crap,if they offer palm up no need to twitch your palm down on contact,keep it equal it shows your firm but fair,a proper gentlemanly handshake
@Pandulaos
@Pandulaos 7 ай бұрын
A handshake can really say a lot. As a female mechanical engineer working in construction, I use handshakes mostly to assess who I can really rely on. And sometimes to show some guys that I know what I'm doing and that I'm the boss. But newer ever use such weird tricks. For me, it's more about saying who you are and what your energy is.
