Every time i’ve been to Eastern State I have had at least three different encounters in various parts of the prison. The last time I was there I went into the surgery theatre and I felt as if my right arm got amputated- after a sharp pain I lost all feeling below my elbow. I could not move or feel the lower half of my arm until I left the area.

The worst prison in the world is fear. Come out of it and you will see a different world

I actually visited #5! Heres a fact for you; There is a storage room called "the chair room". No windows, not vents- nothing is in the room besides a single chair. Rumor has it (and many ghost hunters have found) that if you go inside, turn off the light, leave the room, close the door for a bit and go back in, the chair will have moved. My mom walked not even a foot in and got really chilled and had bad vibes from the room. I walked in an felt nothing. I look back through my pictures, and i swear i got orbs or something in them. Its worth the visit, it really is! Also....my phone died not long after going in... i started with 100%, an not even an hour in it died.

Here's some extra info for anyone who may be interested.... Eastern State Penitentiary is open for guided walking tours, that I'm sure is not new news to anyone... however, and this is what I wanted to tell you guys is that there is a hotel(I believe it's one of the big chain hotels, but don't quote me) nearby the penitentiary that offers a package deal. Let's say you're going to be going to Eastern State for their tour(if you really want the FULL tour of the place it WILL take more than simply 1 day to cover everything there is to see & experience there) if you register at the specific hotel they will cut you a deal as far as the cost of your room. I believe this deal is only for weekends. If you go to the website for Eastern State Penitentiary there is a link to follow to find out all of the information you need about the package deal between the penitentiary & the hotel. I know that when you get this deal not only do you save a great deal of money but you are granted access to some areas(with a guide still ofcourse, for safety reasons), can go to the prison for their NIGHT TIME tours & there is also a shuttle bus that is specifically there to bring visitors to and from Eastern State Penitentiary, as well as multiple other benefits . It's been quite some time since I looked into visiting this place but I can't imagine that the deal/support between the pen & the hotel have changed much. Just to let you all know, back in 2004 I got married on Halloween & my now ex-husband and I were looking into a unique "honeymoon" & that's how I came to learn about this whole package deal setup. The only other place we were interested in going, looked into, was "The Borden House", which was not only a, for lack of better or appropriate wording, a museum about the tragedy but converted into a bed & breakfast. Unfortunately for us though BOTH of the destinations we were interested in going to were booked that year for the Halloween weekend, as I'm sure you can imagine. Sooo we opted to not take a honeymoon since we couldn't go to either place we wanted to go to, which was fine by us since we were simply just happy to be married to eachother. Now if you've read THIS far into my comment then I'm sure you picked up on the fact that I DID call him my EX-husband. I want to point out that although he & I are no longer married we are sooo fortunate that TO THIS DAY he & I are the BEST of friends. As a couple we grew apart, as friends we never will grow apart. Have I babbled enough now? I would absolutely LOVE it if SOMEONE, ANYONE, actually replied to this comment because it would truly amaze me if somebody read this alllllll the way to the end LOL I hope my information about Eastern STATE Penitentiary having the package deal with a hotel nearby was helpful to someone, even though I didn't have all the info. Like I said, the prison has a website & if you go to the Site you can follow the links to get more information about the deal between the hotel, the tours the pen has to offer & information about the shuttle to & from the hotel /prison. I remember hearing about the Eastern State Penitentiary in an old survival horror game called The Suffering, which took place on a prison island where an evil force suddenly manifests itself, mostly in the form of the many executions that were carried out on inmates and soldiers as the island prior to becoming a prison was a base for the US military during WW2. They had a documentary video about this very prison in the game where they showed the prison itself as well as had interviews with people who work there to maintain it with all their creepy experiences that they've had while working there.

Mansfield was an interesting trip. Didn't experience anything paranormal, but it was fun to see where scenes from the movie were filmed.

As a child growing up in West Virginia, we would take school field trips to the Moundsville Penitentiary. I used to beg to stay on the bus because I always saw things in there I shouldn’t have. It was traumatizing.
