I think Mandela effects on songs is hard to confirm because we always sing following what we think we hear until we see the lyrics or find out in a karaoke that we were wrong the whole time

Tool like to do this with their albums. Was pretty lost to what the lyrics were in the Lateralus album. Good bands can make good use of the trick. The Residents and Cardiacs are other bands that does this. Not many know of these great bands though unfortunately.

I'm in my 60's. I agree with you. In elementary school, we had to sing in the Christmas chorus. We were given sheet music with lyrics. It said; 🎵Deck the halls with boughs of Holly,🎶Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la🎵

Honestly, ever since I noticed people saying "I COULD CARE LESS" (which would make it seem like you care somewhat) instead of "I COULDNT CARE LESS" (which is obviously about how you dont care at all) I realise that people mishear, misunderstand all the time. As stated previously, "I could care less" is still a correct phrase IF you actually DO care to some degree, but the sentence is incomplete. "I COULD care less, but I'm still hopeful." "I couldn't care less" is also a truncated phrase. "I couldn't care ANY LESS, than I do now". This sentence shows you have zero "cares" to give. To avoid the confusion. Easier to say "I just don't give a ____ or ____ or____" (fill in the blank)

This is probably not a Mandela effect but the Deck The Halls segment brought it to mind. In The Twelve Days of Christmas, day 4 is almost always sung as "four calling birds". Most of the earliest versions say "four colly birds"-colly being a regional English expression for "coal-black". It makes sense that it would be 4 Blackbirds, 3 French hens, and 2 Turtledoves. I mean, why would they describe what the non-specified birds (four calling birds) are doing but not what the French hens and Turtledoves are doing?
@privatelyprivate3285
@privatelyprivate3285 5 ай бұрын
“Calling bird” is another term for “song bird”. (That said, it’s plenty possible for “colly” to have been the original lyric confused for / varied by “calling” over time - just not in a way that compromises the song’s aviary description uniformity.

I met a guy from Kentucky that told me he had been taught that Ben Franklin was the second president of the United States of America. He told me that he had gone on a hike one afternoon at age 13 and got caught in a sudden powerful electrical storm. He took shelter in an old shack and ended up spending the night. The next morning he went home, only to find out that he had been missing for 8 days as far as the rest of the world knew. Because he kept telling everyone he was only gone for one night, his family sent him to therapy He also noticed that Franklin was no longer the second US President. He said that a lot of little things like some items in the house were either no longer around or were in different locations. Years of therapy still couldn't convince him that Franklin was not a President. I thought he was a little crazy. A few years later, I met a man from Tennessee that told me a similar story. In his case, he said that after a really bad electrical storm, he thought he was going crazy because a lot of things in his life had suddenly changed including no one knowing that Franklin had been the second US President. In his case, He did not lose any time. After thinking about this I wonder if electrical storms can cause people to shift from one universe to another. Now I get a little nervous with heavy weather. "Hall" can refer to an aristocratic residence, e.g. Toad Hall, where we are informed that "Mr Toad is very rich, his father left him a good deal of money." So I always assumed that "halls" referred to aristocratic residences in the plural. If you go back 150 years or more, it was not unusual for the wealthy to give occasional parties for the peasants that worked for them, so that "deck the halls with boughs of holly" is a call to action to put on a party for the peasants, maybe even let them have a little protein.

Where I lived we had the following immortal verses: On top of Mount Lofty All covered in sand* I shot my dear teacher With a red rubber band. I shot him with pleasure, I shot him with pride, How could I have missed him, He was 40 feet wide. I went to his funeral, I went to his grave. Instead of throwing flowers I threw a grenade. (Sung to the tune of "On top of spaghetti".) * Some versions use the word shit, I've stuck with sand because it rhymes. For the record, Mount Lofty (near Adelaide) is _not_ covered in sand.

Maybe they got rid of the nose ring due to complaints? Parents can be odd that way, they see things 'wrong' even if their kids aren't bothered. Some Mandela effects can be explained by mishearing or genuine mistakes, but others really are odd. Like one about Disney and Tinkerbell at the beginning, tapping the castle. I totally remember that! I also recall Deck the Halls, not Hall.

weird thought i just had. you know how in online video games they have servers and for one reason or another they merge servers together, maybe due to not as many people playing anymore or they have better equipment and so on so they merge the servers to bring everyone together or free up resources. it could apply to mandela effects in a sense. even more so if life is a simulation like some propose.

Deck the Halls: It's as simple as this. Some people don't have the verbal skills that others have. Essentially, they don't pay attention to grammar structures as much as other people do. So they don't hear something properly, then they repeat it improperly, then store it in their memory improperly, then are stunned when it turns out they were wrong to begin with. Swearing that something has changed doesn't mean something has changed.

The Mandela Affect is : 1. People misremembering things 2. People not paying attention to things that get changed. 3. People not knowing that some things are changed in other countries due to any number of reasons. 4. Spoofs being more popular than originals Example: Mike and Ike changed in 98 or 99. I have an old Billy Joel CD (from the 80s or 90s) which has the lyrics to Piano Man on the sleeve. It’s: “son, can you play me a memory.” It’s figurative language and damn good lyricism. No, you can’t literally play a memory, but music is one of the most evocative things we as humans can experience. When we hear a song that had deep meaning to us, 5, 10, even 20 or more years ago all those emotions can come rushing back. This unknown character in the song is feeling nostalgic and asks for a specific song in order to remember specific memories.

Ask any Boomer about the Peace symbol. It meant "peace" and only peace without all the origin information. However, it secretly meant "piece" and was symbolic of free love (if you look at the parts). The peace sign of two fingers stemmed from the WW2 Victory sign, which indicated the end of war, thus peace.

When I was about 5 or 6 I remember my dad giving us a tape recorder and a tape cassette for each of us to record things on. We would sing nursery rhymes and things like that and then play them back - and I was positive that the recorder sometimes played things back slightly differently than we had recited them. I thought I was the only one who noticed until my brother and I sang a song and then played it back - and we both agreed the lyrics were completely different from what we had just belted out a few minutes ago. We decided that sometimes tape recorders forget what they were just told.

The "Billy Joel" one is memory. The complete line goes "Son can you play me a memory? I am not really sure how it goes. But's it sad and and it's sweet and I knew it completely when I wore a younger man's clothes." The man is recalling wanted to remember his youth and a happier time when he was younger and he feels like he is forgetting how it feels to be young hence why he says "Memory" not "Melody". I grew up on Billy Joel, have been listening to him since before I was born, and it's always been memory.

have seen The Truman Show at least 15 times. I've always been interested in the concept of how lives can be manipulated and redirected from a source we are unaware of. I was in a deep conversation with my girlfriend about how changes have occurred a couple of days ago that I have realized at my place of employment and this happened while The Truman Show was playing my TV. I decided to watch this movie probably because of the recent events and because my girlfriend has never seen it before. During my work related phenomenon conversation a scene happened which if you've seen The Truman Show you know Truman is back at his house after trying to escape with Meryl his wife but is cut off from forest fires and a nuclear radiation threat. When Meryl speaks to the officers she clearly said good night and has a fight with Truman about his mental state. Truman holds Meryl with her advertised all in one knife and Marlon enters with a 6 pack of beer defusing the situation when he sees them. Problem is now it's daytime shown through the cracks of the blinds and door Marlon enters from which I am 100% positive was not the case before. It was dark. There was no light. It was nighttime. Is there anyone out there that can confirm this?

The septum is a very delicate part of a bull's anatomy. Owners placed rings in their noses so they could control the rather unruly beasts by grabbing the ring or by holding a rope tied to the ring. It also demonstrated that the bull was already owned and under the power of the owner. This practice is the origin of the phrase "being led around by the nose." That bull was forced to walk in whatever direction he was pulled because if he didn't, he would be in immediate, excruciating pain. A bit in a horse's sensitive mouth is used for the same purpose. Bulls in old cartoon were often depicted with the ring because it was a stereotype. The depiction has fallen out of favor because certain minority groups can take it as a symbol of dominance/control/ownership since slaves were sometimes pierced similarly, or collared, or chained -- in other words, treated as beasts unable to control their own lives.

I found a Mandela effect about a year ago. The song Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys. This was one of my favorite songs growing up and it had always said, " Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys, don't let them pick guitars and drive them old trucks make them be doctors and lawyers and such". But now it says let them be doctors and lawyers and such. Then a couple of months ago my mom and stepdad was watching Walker Texas Ranger and at the end of the episode Willie Nelson was singing this song and on there he sang it make them bee doctors and lawyers and such. So obviously even Willie Nelson thinks that's the way it should be.

Last week and once again listening to some music vids my wife and I once again started discussing Mr Benson, during the conversation I once again googled for more info and was astounded to see that George Benson had toured in 2023 and indeed was planning another tour in 2024! This led me to ask Alexa (here comes the really weird part) Alexa told us that he died in 1982 aged 42 years, I then asked Alexa for George Benson tour dates and lo and behold she reeled off a list of upcoming dates for 2024!
