I love your channel!!! You guys are the real deal!!! You inspire me to live simply. You both seem very kind and I can't wait to watch all your videos. I was born and raised in a holler in the Appalachia Mountains of Eastern KY. I grew up with no indoor plumbing. We had an outhouse, and we got our drinking water from the same old dug well that my Great Grandparents dug by hand. I can still remember that sweet cold water that my sister drew for us. We raised plenty of taters and kept them in a tater hole that was dug into the ground during winter. I remember picking up taters behind the old mule and plow. We grew and canned our own tomatoes, green beans, sweet corn, onions and we made kraut with our cabbages. We gathered black walnuts in the fall and kept them in a cardboard box behind the heating stove.I loved cracking the black walnuts in the winter time with a hammer...my sister would make homemade fudge with them. We gathered blackberries and canned them.We dried apples . We raised hogs and feeding the hogs after school was my responsibility. The hogs became my pets. It was so hard for me when December came because I knew what was going to happen to my hogs. We raised chickens and had plenty of eggs -even a small steady supply of eggs during winter. My mother would make chicken and dumplins on special occasions. We heated our old house with coal of course and every morning my brothers would take the ashes out and dump them in the garden and then pack in a bucket full of coal and make the morning fire. On Saturday nights my brothers would pack in water to heat for our bath in the old galvanized wash tub.We all worked hard. We didn't have much money but we never went hungry. Times have changed for the worse. I wanted my own children to have all the things I never had but sometimes I wonder if I did the right thing. My children do not know what hard work is. They do not know the satisfaction and pride of eating food that you've grown and harvested yourself . Sorry for writing so much but watching your videos has made me nostalgic. Keep up the good work!!! I subscribed to your channel. XXXOOO

I live in a fifth wheel without any extra insulation. It has been 10 below several times for a week or so. 1. I like the cold. 2. I heat my waterline or I turn the water off completely. 3. I use space heaters when it gets below 40 4. I sleep very well under my electric blanket. I love my electric blanket Good video “ adventure”

This was an interesting video. I once built skirting for a trailer by building a 2x4 frame made to fit tightly between the ground and under side of the trailer. I then stapled plastic sheets tightly to the inside before attaching, then paneled the outside. The dead air between paneling and plastic sheeting insulated the underside. What a difference that made! The floor was kept warm way easier. Thumb up for this video.

I did the same thing here, except instead of the plastic, I actually used fiberglass insulation. The floor is not cold and the pipes don't freeze.

Very funny opening. I was thinking OMG, these people better call 911 because they are going to freeze to death. When we travel ,my wife often says, please get some heat in this (RV) tin can. It gets really cold in a hurry when up in the mountains. like above 10,000 ft and the RV furnace does the job. Looks like you guys are going to be Ok, a wood stove will do the job. Some people build a house around their old RV and then dismantle the RV when the exterior is done and so forth. Good Luck, stay safe and God Bless!

Living off grid is great. I live in a 16x24 home. Only wood heat. Oil lamps for light. Pump all my water by hand. No tv. No pc. Just my phone. No electricity. Just enough solor to charge my phone. Im 2 miles from a dirt road. And four miles from there to pavement. First two yrs was a learning curve for sure. Go off grid. Oh i neved been happer than i am now. No monthly bills. No stress. Cut my own wood. Yes with a chainsaw. But what i spend on gas and oil for my lamps. Is less than 200 a yr. Im retired

You guys are ADORABLE!! I subscribed just after this video started. My boyfriend and I plan on getting a RV and hitting the road after my son graduates (class of 2019) which gives us time to save and be able to buy a nice RV and have no payment. Our "plan is to full time RV and travel the country and later in life settle down on a nice piece of property with a tiny house. I really look forward to watching more of your videos and learning more about the lifestyle of living small and free. Have a wonderful day...God Bless 😊

You both are inspiring, it doesn't take a big house or the latest gadgets to be happy, I can see you both are happy and enjoying each others company, good for you cause that's something that others will never get to experience!

Wood heat is the best and the cheapest. I heat my house year round on 100 bucks. 50 dollars for the permit to gather wood and 50 dollars in gas to haul it home on my truck. I know some people who use full electric heat and they pay upwards of 5,000 a year just for heat! I'll never pay that kind of money as long as i'm good and able, maybe one day when I'm old and can't do the work but even then it would be a last resort.

Electric isn't going to do much good unless you're plugged into shore power. And a quality wood stove isn't going to make you stink unless you already stink.
