This was recorded 2 years ago yet your closing comment is much more needed today than it was back then. Their 👮‍♂️ jobs are much harder now and they have never been appreciated less. To any cops out there that read this, THANK YOU for everything you do. A lot of us do still do appreciate you and are thankful to you for what you do and the sacrifices you and your families make. I pray for you daily.

Here's some of my stories from my time working corrections. I've worked night shift almost my entire career. One night during master roster count (which is the final count before lights out, where we take a paper roster around with the inmates name, number and cell on it and we verify it with their inmate ID card to make sure all inmates are physically in the facility and in the proper cell or bed) in a secured housing unit, which is a housing unit with 1 or 2 man cells that are locked down at night and opened in the morning... I digress, one night during master roster, I was in the control station of the housing unit while my sergeant took the roster around. While he was in quad 2 of the unit, I saw a large shadowy figure appear in front of the door and slowly drift across the unit to the fire exit and vanish. I saw it, my sergeant saw it and all 38 inmates in the unit saw it. It even showed up on the fixed wing video cameras. We still don't know what it was. While at the work camp one night, it was around 2 in the morning, most of us were just struggling to stay awake at this point. Suddenly our radios started beeping and a radios hot mic had been activated, which is one of our send help now alarms. Before anyone could make contact with the officer who had the radio we heard both staff members assigned to that particular housing unit start frantically screaming and shouting. Not knowing what was going on, almost the entire shift ran to the unit to check on them. When we entered all of the lights were on, all of the inmates were awake and looking confused and both officers were hysterical and kept saying it just vanished. Eventually they calmed down and told us they saw a ball of light on come through the back door and go down the hallway and through the closed door to the control station and into the station before blinking out of existence. So the lieutenant replayed the camera footage and sure enough, we saw a light come through the door, go down the hallway, through another door and into the station before blinking out. Niether of those staff members felt comfortable in that housing unit again. That was my first facility. My first night at the facility I'm at now, I was walking back to my housing unit after helping confinement conduct showers. One of the housing units is abandoned and condemned because part of the roof collapsed on an inmate about two years ago. This facility also used to house female inmates until 1999. I made it halfway past the abandoned unit when I heard a loud whispering. I stopped and looked around and saw no one, so I brushed it off and kept walking. I made it another 15 feet and heard someone shout my name, not my last name which is on my uniform, but my first name. I stopped and looked again, this time I saw a figure inside that abandoned housing unit. It was clearly a female but had no discernible features. I stood for a moment and then ran the rest of the way back to my housing unit. Another night I was sent to the old disciplinary confinement unit, which is now a reduced custody unit. I was asked by the female officer in the unit if I could make the round for her because she felt uneasy, so I did. While going down one of the two east wings, I heard multiple females talking but I couldn't make out what was being said. It wasn't very clear, so I assumed an inmate had gotten a cell phone and was being stupid with speakerphone. I rounded the corner and saw plain as day, a blonde woman staring back at me. She then turned and ran down the corridor and was gone. I haven't been back to that unit since that night. There was another night I was doing one of our detection system checks in the fences used to detect escape attempts. While walking down the eastern edge of the perimeter I heard in multiple areas, a small girl laughing. When I got back to the main control room, I reported what I had heard to the control room supervisor. She then showed me a newspaper article from 1997 where a small girl was killed in a car accident right in front of the facility. According to her, I was not the first person to hear the laughing, and some officers have even seen a small girl running around the visitation area and the chapel at night. Just two days ago, while working confinement I was standing behind the unit to get some fresh air before the food carts came and we had to feed, it was about 4 in the morning. The light on the back of the building is really garbage and it randomly blinks on and off. So when the light blinked off and stayed off, I didn't think anything of it. After about five minutes I started to hear what sounded like a horse trotting around the perimeter road, I thought it was odd, but maybe an inmate in a cell trying to mess with me, because supposedly there's a ghost of a Seminole warrior that hangs out around the facility. So I brush it off and turn to head inside, right as I grabbed the door I heard what I can only describe as a shout of fury. It clearly came from behind me. I quickly turned around and saw a horse and rider by the fence, the horse turned and sped off into the woods. I ran back inside and refused to go back outside by myself.

Do Military horror stories paranormal, ghost, and unexplained

I used to live in Cincy and I've heard stories just like #2 before. I was told that when there was a team working on one of the bridges or something, that they couldn't keep people since they quit on a regular basis because they would see catfish the size of school busses down there. Craziness.

Re: no 1 - it's always amazed me that most cops don't even carry a simple pen knife or folder at least. A key knife with a HALF inch blade would've saved that guys life, if that situation were real lol. Though I'm sure slightly more cops now have one since police have been essentially militarized in this country.

Ok, I'm just going to say this. The person who wrote in about their "ex" Marine family member, should be smacked. The only time a Marine would ever be referred to as an "ex" Marine is if they were dishonorably discharged. The correct title is Former Marine. (Once a Marine/soldier, always a Marine/soldier) Ex/retired military is acceptable, but never Ex Marine. Nothing against you Darkness, I love your stuff, but, being ex military, I get a little annoyed when people don't address other service members properly. Being family makes it worse.

There are quite a few massive fish in the Ohio. My grandpa and I were walking along the river when I was a kid and we came across a long-dead catfish that was at least 8ft long and wide enough to swallow me whole at the time.

1 made me cringe at one point. I'm a firefighter and there is a great problem with the police having rules not to approach burning vehicles because they "could blow up". Burning vehicles almost never explode. And when they do it's in most cases due to the cargo. But even this can easily be seen on the vehicle (there are plates indicating which substance is loaded and wich dangers it provides).

I really enjoy first responder stories, I feel like it brings them some of the respect they deserve from others. My grandparents, mother, and boyfriend are/were first responders, they all agree with me that its a good thing for others to understand what they go through.

I grew up in Columbus, Ohio. Dublin is a very rich suburb of Columbus. I had to laugh when I heard slums of Dublin. Must just be a regular neighborhood in Dublin. That story was messed up tho. Thank God they were in Dublin and not in a true slum of Columbus. The landlord probably would have not made it because in a slum in the CO noone would of called the police for her screams.
