Mr Burnett- I teach Spanish to 182- 8th graders, so I will teach them about Black Hispanics in our diaspora such as Celia Cruz (Cuban singer and my favorite singer in the whole wide world- I was soo saddened when she passed), Sammy Davis Jr (his mother was Cuban), artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, baseball player Francisco Lindor, Sammy Sosa, Jharrel Jerome (Dominican Am. actor), Tessa Thompson (Afro-Panamanian actress), Maxwell (Puerto Rican-Haitian Am artist), Zoe Saldana (actress), Laz Alonzo, Colman Domingo (Belize-Guatamalan Am actor), Soledad O'Brien (news anchor), Gina Torres (Cuban Am actress), Miguel (black Mexican American singer), Elizabeth Acevedo (Afro-Dominican writer), etc. P.S. Yes- we have black Mexicans. We are all over the place. Thank you for your 10 ideas. I enjoyed them.

Hello, I love the idea of students sharing quotes. Allowing them to share quotes can give you insite to what/who inspires them the most. Kahoot is also an exciting idea, they will love that. I have never heard of blooket though, I will have to look into it. Have a great night! 😃

I've been a teacher for six years, and an SEL counselor for one, and now I'm moving into high school counseling. Thank you for all your videos! I love your enthusiasm but not sure why society requires a special month for those folks who embody a darker skin pigmentation than me. My husband has a darker pigmentation than myself and he doesn’t want a special month. Should we have a special month for those folks with red, black, blonde, or brown hair. It’s just pigmentation. Pigmentations that evolved over millennia as a response to environmental and geological differences. As math and science professionals we have the knowledge that we are all the same. The concept of race was created by white men as a way to place into categories those folks who have superficial differences. Superficial, not biological. A human with the darkest of skin pigmentation is the same fundamentally as a Lilly-white human.
