A 10 minute beginner chair exercise workout designed specifically for people who have been sedentary and looking to start moving again. The class has gentle movements and is easy to understand and follow. Ideal for those dealing with obesity, seniors who want to get moving again or caregivers looking for a class for someone with dementia. No equipment needed other than a chair (or a couch)!

Thank you so much for this brilliant short chair workout. I'm very unfit since Covid and this was just what I needed. Not too long which usually puts me off and I could tell it was proper exercise because I got slightly out of breath. Brilliant thank you again 👍😘🤗

"Thank you so very much. I just turned 60 and I'm out of shape, overweight, and have just been lying around being lazy! I know it's not good! I lost my mom almost 2 years ago and have been very depressed. I'm trying to get back into the groove of things. I also plan to go swimming as soon as it gets warmer. I will turn to this video and do these every day until I can do a harder exercise routine. Have a great day! :)

I'm sorry to hear about losing your mom. I truly hope the exercise helps to motivate you and brings you out of your depression. If you can, come back daily for exercise (whether here or elsewhere on YT) since the exercise will help emotionally. I have let myself go. I used to walk a lot but now am the sole caregiver for my husband who has PSP. He can’t be left alone and although I get lots of help and support from my family they all work full time. I am now very overweight and unfit and this looks just the thing to get me moving again. It is so difficult being a caregiver because we give so much of ourselves to others (I work with seniors with dementia and often hear the stories of the spouses and have seen many tears shed over the exhaustion of caregiving). Five weeks and I feel a HUGE difference! I've lost some weight, I sleep better, and I have more staying power when taking care of my two year old granddaughter. Thank you so much. This is the first exercise I've stayed with so long. I love the laid back approach and soothing music. Made just for me.

My hope is that if you do these every day, the exercises will help with the pain. I have lots of gentle level workouts as well that are great for improving range of motion and flexibility, and several include stretches for the back. Good morning. I am a 75 yr old who used to be very active, barely sat down. Then my husband passed and I became very depressed. I also fight with neuropathy and fibromyalgia. It’s hard for me to walk, although I try to walk up to an hour several times a week. Biggest problem is finding shoes that don’t hurt my feet. I’m glad I found this channel as I’m going to try this. 😂

I have emphysema and my doctor ordered me to exercise. Had to pause and start my O2 supply, then had to pause again to catch my breath. Now I feel like I've accomplished something. It's a start. Thank you.

I've been sedentary for so long, this gentle, short workout was exactly what the doctor ordered, literally. I was diagnosed the multiple organ dysfunction syndrome and told to get moving. Thank you for your exercises.

I just called my sister to come over tomorrow to do this video together - I have been very fit most of my life but a car accident has resulted in a L1-S spinal fusion ( yes I wrote that correctly - when I first went to physio she refused to believe me but finally got my chart and asked "why would anyone do that to you?) It was my 3rd fusion since the area either above or below takes on the function of the fused area and after many years you end up needing another. For the past 10 years I haven't exercised at all as just doing daily living stuff has become overwhelming - but I have been thinking that I really want to be as fit as I can and no longer feel that if I can't workout like I used to what's the point - I now feel that getting any better will help me and have been thinking about starting for about a month - so I start tomorrow and I know I need to go very slow and very little to start to avoid a flare so this video looks great and I'm looking forward to it

I sold my house 2 years ago & moved to be with family more. 2 years of inactivity & just sitting all day has taught me that I need to exercise. I’m not ready for a full blown exercise program. Starting slow with this 10 minute exercise is what I needed. Thank you so much for this video. PS: I’m 96.

Hi from Denmark! thank you so much. I have a weakness in my body that makes tendon knots and I can only walk or stand for 2000 steps a day. This video is really helpful, and gives me hope to get excercise into my life. I'm 53 and was loosing hope all to soon.

I am fighting cancer and have weakness and this helps me get a little activity and your voice is very soothing to me. I especially love the flutter kicks as I love to swim and I like to close my eyes and imagine I'm swimming happy😂I'm so glad I came across your videos, thank you so much for helping others.

Hi Jenna, I am so sorry to hear about what you're going through right now. It's great how you're searching for exercises that you can do to help (both physically and mentally). Just so you know, I have plenty of gentle workouts on my channel that might help. If you go to my playlists, you'll see that I categorize all of the workouts into levels. There is a gentle playlist that might work well for you. The stretching playlist might also be helpful during this time until you gain more strength and energy again.🫂

My mom is 76 yrs. old...She got a severe UTI that caused a bad Kidney infection...The infection affected her nerves and muscles..She went from an active lady to unable to walk or use her hands...She's in the hospital right now...Her sodium level is low and is getting sent to a skilled nursing facility for physical therapy...I pray she walks again...I'm so worried and emotionally not well without my mom

Sending prayers for your mom. God is able. I was paralyzed for about a year and a half after COVID worsened a neurological autoimmune disorder. By the grace of God, I am walking just fine now. Doing Aqua therapy in a heated pool help me get faster results than physical therapy on land. It’s fun and relaxing too. Hopefully, you can check into that for her. God bless! ❤

I hope your mother is doing better. Do lean on the truth of God's word, He will never leave you. Work on your relationship with him as you read his word. When Jesus is your Savior, you will only say, see you later to your loved ones and never goodbye.

thank you for your videos. my Mum has not been well for a while and finally diagnosed with sleep apnea. because she was unwell for so long she had not done any exercise and is therefore unsteady on her feet and needs to ease into things so she can become fit again. your videos are the best thing that she has found. they are just what she needs to start her journey back to physical health.

Searching for a short seated beginner session for a friend with limited mobility and stamina due to battling breast cancer. Going to keep looking; as inviting as this is, it might be too much for her at present due to other health issues. This is great. I had a spinal reconstruction for 2 spine deformities. I’m now dealing with chronic pain because one of the rods broke and hardware failure. I’ve been going on short walks. Now I’ll be adding this to my daily routine. Thank you. I am also a new subscriber as of today!

I really appreciate this video. I'm only 54 but with a tailbone injury from 5 yrs ago and 2 summers ago I tore the meniscus in my knee and now have a Taylor's bunion and regular bunion on left foot. I've gained so much weight and it's been so hard to excersize. I'm very happy I came across your video, I can do this!!❤

Hi Agnes, are you drinking lots of water in the day? Often cramping is due to lack of fluids. I think the other option would be to go into the stretch very gently and over time increase the stretch. Hope this helps!

I'm 45 years old and I do walk as much as I can. But because of medications I am overweight and ashamed to join a gym. I found your video and I've been doing it for 3 days. Hopefully I find the motivation to continue

Oh gosh, Shannon, please don't be ashamed. Gyms are meant to be a comfortable place to work out and to get healthy. In the meantime, I truly hope my videos will inspire you to keep coming back every day. Just look for 'playlists' on the main page and scroll down to where you see the gentle standing or seated options. I also started a second channel dedicated to chair workouts and will add the link for you here: youtube.com/@ImprovedHealthChairWorkouts I now upload all new seated workouts to the new channel. My recommendation is to start with any of the gentle workouts (seated or standing) and start with the shorter workouts until you're ready to do more. Even if you start with 10 minutes a day this week, and then increase to 15 minutes next week, that is a great start. The main goal would be to just show up for the workout and to do it no matter what (unless you're sick of course). We often don't feel like working out, or don't have the energy, but often the less we do, the less we want to do. The same goes for the other way. The more active we get, the more we usually want to do. The hardest part is starting. If you can, make a goal to do 10 minutes every day to start (or whatever amount feels right for you). I hope that helps and I hope you enjoy more of the workouts when you try them out. If you look at my gentle level standing playlists, I have created several that are designed for people starting out (with lots of motivational quotes to inspire you to keep going).

I’ve been staying home taking care of my elderly father, not doing any exercise. I wanted to find an easy exercise that he can along with me. I decided to try this, i didn’t realize how stiff I was I feel better already. Tomorrow I put it on in front of my dad and see if he will join me. Wish me luck.

This is just the sort of exercise that we need. It's an easy to follow regime that we can do without a lot of effort which would probably put us off. Thank You Jules, for encouraging us to get fit, it feels like we are with a friend who is suggesting simple exercises to get us fit and healthy, rathe than an instructor rushing us through a rigorous programme by shouting. we do like your accent which although is Canadian as you live there but also another accent which sounds more Northern England? This is great. I am into month 9 recovery from broken hip and total hip replacement. Still having pain and walking with limp. I also have very bad knees. I need to get back to the gym but have lost my confidence about being able to walk on treadmill and do the weight training machines. This is a good start. Thank you. I am 66.

Hi! I've actually got lots of seated workouts on my channel. If you go to the playlists and scroll down on the page, you'll see a whole bunch of seated workouts. I create 3 levels (gentle, beginner and intermediate). You can try out the different ones to see what level suits you best at this time. You can also find all of my workouts on my website (www.improvedhealthforseniors.com). They're a little easier to find on the website vs the YT channel. Either way, they are all there and you'll have lots to choose from. I'm in the process of creating new videos. Please subscribe and turn the notifications on so you'll see the new ones as they get uploaded. I also have a Facebook page where I also give updates on videos. I hope all of that helps!

I truly hope you stick with it. What I find helps a lot of people is to pick an amount of time that you promise you'll be physical active for each day. Even if it's 10 or 15 minutes a day, it will absolutely help. Start with a realistic amount of time and keep in mind that by being active, you'll be helping to extend your life (and be independent longer and decrease the chance of dementia). As time goes on, you'll hopefully be motivated to do more. But to start, 10-15 minutes is great. You can find all of my gentle workouts categorized in the playlists as well as on my website (www.improvedhealthforseniors.com). I hope I see your name pop up again soon in the comments:)

I'm sorry to read about the pain you're dealing with. I create 3 levels of workouts (gentle, beginner and intermediate) and categorize all of the workouts into the playlists. Hopefully the gentle level playlist will have workouts that will work well for you. I truly hope they help.
