A heavy bag is a larger, cylindrical bag, usually suspended by chains or ropes and used for practicing powerful body punches, and can be used to toughen hands or any other limb used to hit the bag. Heavy bags are for developing power; technique is best learned on the punch mitts or pads. Heavy bag workouts can help to improve technique, provide strength training for power, build better balance and coordination, and even reduce stress.

I took this session to the gym and completed it after my usual workout. Absolutely brilliant just had a bit of bother keeping the punch bag still when I did the squats but by the end of the session I did it. Thanks Nate I love these quick burst sessions.

Hi Nate, as a nearly 50yo slightly overweight male I have been feeling the passage of time. Fortunately I started to get into doing some fitness before the Pandemic took hold but I have created a small gym for my family as we ride the COVID-19 out. I have found your videos good value and good fun and I am certainly getting the use of my (not so) heavy bag. Thanks for your efforts, they are appreciated.

I do 10 3 minute rounds at a pace of 200 punches per round while moving around the bag simulating a fight. Then i do 3 shadowboxing rounds and 3 rounds on the speed bag. I'm 57. I wonder how many people my age can do that and i could do more. It's my passion. 3 times per week, plus light weightlifting and cardio and sprints on the eliptical. Also after i finish the boxing rounds, i do pushups and squats. Some days more shadowboxing focusing on lateral movement, footwork, head movement. I have competed in my 50s and will probably do it again
