That's because Vince always makes his superstars do a routine when wrestling. When they go to Japan or other promotions. They tend to do what feels fun or different to break away from their WWE routine. Same thing can be said for John Cena. He's a different wrestler on house shows. Vince is just to set in his ways. People think because he's a big dude he's dumb. Hogan came up in the territories, and if you wanted to make it then, you had to play politics, and Hogan did better at politics than anyone thought an enormous guy like him could. Go watch some stuff about crap Flair pulled, especially as booker, and you'll get it.
@119Agent

@@DLPChris Hogan learned from the best. He basically took a back seat to Brockwinkle for a few years despite being the most popular wrestler in America and so when he got his shot in the WWF he knew exactly the political moves to make to stay on top. You can blame him if you want, but you can't say he created the culture that kept the best and most popular and most deserving wrestlers out of the top role in the company.

The 1989 Royal Rumble is an interesting one Hogan eliminates his tag team partner Savage leading to Monsoon blaming Savage for it happening rather than simply pointing out its every man for himself Hogan then is eliminated by the Towers and illegally eliminates Boss Man, leading to Monsoon to try and justify it because of "karma". Ventura completely and totally rips into Monsoon for his comments, actually leaving Monsoon completely speechless. Storyline wise we were to believe that the Million Dollar Man had bought several entry slots to allow the Towers to come out one after the other leading to Monsoon declaring "no way could this happen" which would be fine had the Demolition and the Brain Busters also not drawn numbers one after the other.

Hogan is a product of the times he was brought up in professional wrestling. It was EXTREMELY cutthroat back then, and the attitude was get them before they can get you. All the old school guys from that time were like that. Bad news Brown said in an interview that Chief J Strongbow told him “in the business, you can make friends or you can make money”. That was just the nature of it back then.

Its funny how people like to mention the Sid Justice elimination and people cheering. First off, its like the first few rows reaction, and conveniently the side facing the camera. It was a coincidence that helps the narrative people put forward about Hulk's popularity which I will admit was waning by that point.

Yeah Hogan was probably younger than most people thought. I mean just google image search "hulk hogan wrestlemania 3" and look at those photos then spend a long time trying to figure out how that man was only 33 years old at the time. Show anyone those pictures and almost no one would guess anything under 40. And it is still weird to look at Hogan in Rocky III and realize he was only about 27 when when that was filmed.
