During World War II, air superiority played a critical role in determining the outcomes of many battles. The era saw the emergence of highly maneuverable fighter jets, each designed to outmatch opponents in speed, agility, and dogfight capabilities. These aircraft were the epitome of engineering excellence and strategic design, enabling pilots to perform breathtaking maneuvers and secure aerial dominance. Here, we explore the ten most maneuverable fighter jets of WWII, highlighting their unique characteristics and contributions to the war effort.

They were talking about the jets of excrement that would fly out of each pilots ass whenever they made high-G maneuvers.

I would have thought the Spitfire would have been more manoeuvrable than the Mustang?

Neither Spitfire nor Hurricane were designed to be agile dogfighters. Their main purpose was to get to height quickly and destroy enemy bombers over Britain. They were short range interceptors, prioritizing heavily armament and climb rate (especially the Spitfire). When France fell and they faced German fighters over England, the Spitfires proved a match for the BF109s, but that was not what they were primarily designed for. The Spitfire could be made more maneuverable and faster by "clipping" its wings, removing the outer sections, but this was at the expense of climb rate.

you missed one that could out maneuver every aircraft in this list, the Nakajima Ki-27 Nate

The Focke-Wulf FW-190 D was widely believed to be the best fighter aircraft of World War II, not only was a superb daytime fighter but was also used extensively as a night fighter, interceptor, and ground attack aircraft, so be real and independant.

What about the Me-262, Vought F4U Corsarir, etc....With all respect I think you should have to consider many more.

Nice video, but think you forgot the Fiat G.55-59 Centauro, it was the next generation after the Folgore, from Italy. It was tested against the FW190 and every other German plane, and it crushed each one, even the Germans were thinking to buy several, to defend Germany.

Not one of these aircraft is a jet. Jet is not synonymous plane or aircraft. Kinda of an egregious mistake. "highly maneuverable fighter jets"

bf-109F4 and bf-109G2 reach 580km in a straight line. Its speed when diving is 680km. It dives steeper and increases the speed to 750km. spitfire V, hurricane p-40, P-39, yak-7, la-5, A5m2, planes have a speed of 470km, their climb rate is very bad. It gives the BF-109F4 and BF-109G2 the altitude and the luxury of whether to engage or not. egon mayer shoots 51 spitfire. He is ambushing from above. egon mayer does not do Maneuver combat with spitfire. erich hartmanda uses the diving tactic from above. at the end of the war p-51' is faster than bF-109. The pilot, who shot down 6 German warplanes during a mission, is making a dive from above.

The only "jet" to actually see combat in WW2 was Germanys Me-262 and it wasnt very maneuverable at all.
@ww748
@ww748 4 күн бұрын
nope, the Arado Ar 234 saw “combat” as a recon aircraft. The Heinkel He 162 shot down an allied aircraft in April 1945. The Gloster Meteor shot down a V-1 flying bomb. The Me -262 was not the only jet aircraft to see combat.

It was very maneuverable at high speeds. The problem with all early jets was thay couldn't afford to lower their speed and get into a regular dogfight due to the poor acceleration of the engines.

This list certainly isn't in order and leaves out a lot of other craft like the Russian I-15 biplane that almost certainly out maneuver monoplane designs.

The Soviet Il-2 attack aircraft "Flying Tank", "concrete plane", "black death" - all these are the nicknames of the Il-2, the most massive combat aircraft in history. During the war years, 36,183 aircraft were produced.

I 16 was really maneuvreable, but relatively slow. It was very good aircraft in late 30's , in 40 not. I-153 was a prototype and never been produced serial. Talking about Sovet planes lacks YAK-3 (the same engine as in YAK-9) but lower weight so much better performances. German instructions ordered pilots to avoid fighting with this plane in altitudes under 10 000 ft.

@@tomekpawwaw When left alone, the i-153 returns better than anyone else. If you play war thunder you will notice In second place is i-16. 3.ki-43, 4- a5m2 5-ki-61 5-spitfire There are many different versions of these planes. The first ki-61 carries 4 machine guns. the next ki-61 carries 2 20mm guns, the weight increases. 5- yak-1, yak-1b, yak-3, yak-7, yak-9, Yak-9U are different aircraft. German Lutwaffe Expert Erich Rudorffer, 5 in 17 minutes with the FW-190A6 in October 1943 It drops yak-9 and 8 yak-7. The reason is that Russian planes are insufficient in speed and maneuverability.

@@AlperBakmaz I talk about reality, not a game.
@AlperBakmaz
@AlperBakmaz Күн бұрын
@@tomekpawwaw War Thunder is the most realistic game. I realized that it was realistic in 2 cases. Teresio Vittorio Martinoli, Italian fighter pilot American P-39 had an accident and died. I have used Italian macchi 202 and macchi 205 before. I used German BF-109 and FW-190. Pulling a plane up close to the ground at speeds of 700km is exciting. Even if it is 10 meters from the ground, the plane pulls itself up. I tried the same thing with p-39, Even if there are 50 meters left, P-39 cannot pull itself up. p-39 shot himself to the ground. I understand why Teresio Vittorio Martinoli died. German aircraft technicians are noticing that some FW-190s, when very close to the ground, at low speed, do not pull the nose up when they lower it. When it is very close to the ground, at low speed, if the FW-190 puts its nose down, it cannot pull it up.
