You are truly a girl after my own heart. I myself am a collector of old cookbooks. My favorite ones are church and community cookbooks because you know they are tried and true recipes. No one wants to submit a recipe with their name on it unless it's their very favorite. I am so glad my daughter sent me a link to your channel. I have been binge watching for days. 😊

I have to admit I love looking at old cookbooks, the illustrations and the lifestyle they try to exemplify and how cultural views and ideas of good nutrition changed over the decades but I rarely make the recipes. 2 years ago I bought an entire set of Lifetime cookware from Abbey Anne's in Akron for a pittance and really embraced the method of pre-heating stainless cookware and using no grease or water, now that lowered my cholesterol blood viscosity but still very flavorful!

Grace Drayton was a famous illustrator from the early 20th century. She did draw the Campbell Kids, but she is even more famous for drawing Dolly Dingle, who appeared in many magazines in paper doll collections. Dover has reprinted some of these. I bet she illustrated that pamphlet, which makes that an even nicer find.

What an awesome find. I wish you where my neighbor so I could share some of my massive collection I inherited from my Mother in Law. Who by the way had no clue how to cook. She saved everything if it had a recipe. Watching your videos and loving them. I will have to pull out a few and find some vintage recipes to make. Oh and yes I have an old Sunbeam mixer with the two bowl sizes and the juicer attachment and it still works. I use it all the time. My Dad rewired it for me.

My mom and grandma both had the Cutco book, must be a ton of those still out there, and the company is still in existence. I'm thinking they bought steak knives from Cutco. I truly don't remember that cookbook getting used much, though. (My ex had a nice set of Cutco steak knives. I'm sure the first wife forgot to take them when she left, lol, and I do have one in my kitchen drawer. Oh yeah, they're keepers. Such a long time ago; both are deceased now). My mom and grandma also had the Sunbeam electric stand mixers and I remember Mom borrowing Grandma's attachable meat grinder when my dad had to have his teeth pulled when I was a kid. They also had the nice heavy stainless steel percolator type coffee pots. I've stumbled on percolators in thrift stores and have used them myself in the past. I just love all the older gadgets and the recipe books and those little flyers that came with some appliances or in the backs of some magazines (?) back in the day. I'm thinking seriously about heading out this next week to a big Antique Barn we have in Centerville, Ohio. Takes a long awhile to walk around in, and I don't buy much anymore, but like most people who go there, I love to explore those places, and it's sure been awhile. I do like these videos, you always spark comical memories from past years of my life for me. Thank you!

Hershey's Brochure this was given out with a bar of chocolate and also with a sample of Hershey's coca at the time in 1970. When you could tour the real chocolate factory, they no longer have these tours. It was amazing, like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory only not like the movie I remember seeing them make Hershey kisses and chocolate bars the mixing beaters were huge and the vat of chocolate was the size of an Olympic swimming pool. So sad they no longer have these tours, i believe i was 6 when i toured this factory and it never left my mind. That brochure brought back a lot of memories while watching this video .

The bake-off cookbook reminded me of books I "inherited." They were larger, but I think they had the holes to be put in a binder. The Cooking Magic looked familiar with the sparkles on the inside. Secrets of Making Frozen Desserts, reminded me of Just Desserts cookbooks. Ted Mack did of a tv show, along with Jack Parr and Ed Sullivan.

I collect cookbooks too, have almost 600 so far. I've been searching for vintage cookbooks for about a year. I think we are the same age, based on your comments about being 12 in 1983. You look so much younger! My favorite cookbook is Betty Crocker's New Picture Cookbook 1961, which was my Mom's cookbook that I grew up learning how to cook. I enjoy your videos and channel.

It’s always nice to hear from other collectors! I am realizing that it does sound like I say I was 12 in 1983, but it was 1993! 😁 Betty Crocker books are some of my absolute favorites.

I sadly had to give away my cookbook collection. It had many vintage cook books & thin booklets. I only kept a few special ones. 😢

I found your channel today and I am so glad I found you! I love your videos especially this one. I can so relate. One of the cookie booklets has an advertisement for Mirro cookie press. I bought my press years ago to make churros. They come out delicious! Thank you again! It was great 👍 keep it up! Love it ❤
