With this year's Met Gala having been indefinitely postponed - or possibly cancelled altogether - due to the social distancing restrictions of the coronavirus pandemic, we thought we'd mark the occasion by taking a walk down memory lane. Read on for 10 of the most memorable Met Gala moments of all time - from Sarah Jessica Parker and Alexander McQueen in matching tartan, to that Rihanna omelette dress.

Blake captures the Essence of the Met gala because she stays true to the theme and her outfit is extravangant like a Met outfit is supposed to be but still she manages to be pretty and elegant looking. I feel like either celebs are dressed in ridiculous ugly looking costumes or they are underdressed for the Met, playing it safe and too "pretty". Blake nailed this!!

Blake Lively's look was the best. But, I'm just wondering about the other celebrities who wore such ostentatious and especially huge 'costumes' that how do they carry it effortlessly for hours (well that's what it looked like) . Cardi's outfit looked like that it's almost impossible to breathe when you are inside that huge costume.

When the looks are super grand & huge, they usually have a 2nd look for inside that they can actually sit down in 😊 Like for example Billie this year wasn’t sitting for the dinner in that massive train, she had a 2nd dress

Exactly, looks like a dress a 15 year old could wear. Models and their "simplicity" always goes wrong in these events. People like Elizabeth Taylor and Princess Diana could wear the most simple - one colored dresses and were the most elegant ladies in the room. This because the fabric spoke for itself, the fitting was precise and let's not forget gracious women make everything look elegant.

Lady gaga in 2019 met was iconic. But those outfits were too simple. They were just one solid colour. It was a good choice though bec otherwise it might have been TOO camp. Her make up was on point, btw. Her performance was iconic but not necessarily her outfits. SHE was iconic, not necessarily her outfits.

There have literally hundreds of outfits worn over the years since the Met Galas inception. This video isn't the top 10 of all time, it's clearly labeled as simply "10 of the best". Also, that trench coat ballgown was bloody brilliant!

According to me zayn and ofcourse harry styles are the only two male who have actually given us over the top looks with only one met attendance... They truely did justice to the themes of the ball and didn't just stick to the tuxedos... Also their outfits were not gawdy or too much.. Minimal and elegant yet serving us some powerful looks..
