I propose a mission time challenge. Most of KSP videos focus on efficiency and simplicity. However, usually it will take hundred of years to finish. Anyone tried to visit every space body as fast as possible?

Quick question: Are you talking about player/RL time or in-game/mission time? In other words, are you trying to take the most direct possible path, or just the path that requires the least work so you can time warp through everything else? I personally think mission time is the better challenge. There are two problems with mission time: It basically completely ignores things like landing/take-off and, to lesser extent, refueling times since those are irrelevant compared to orbit time, and the second problem only applies to many-destination missions. You basically need to choose a launch time which provides the best possible alignment for all the planets in-sequence. The thing is, while the perfect alignment exists and due to the irrational (or near irrational, the fact that it's technically rational will create insignificant issues) it is attainable with *some* amount of waiting before launch (this statement is basically an extension of the idea of Fourier series), actually waiting that long would take far too long with the meager 100,000x time acceleration of KSP, so you'd need to cheat to place the planets in the right position.
@helelemamayku6302
@helelemamayku6302 5 жыл бұрын
@@yaksher I'm talking about mission time. I think waiting for a perfect launching window is legit and also a necessary thing if you want to be more time efficient. With that been said, it will be pretty impressive if someone can start the mission from day 0 in KSP. The reason I propose such challenge is because, in real world case, mission time probably is one of, if not the most important thing that we need to take into consideration. Sure, it is cool if you can visit several planets with a small SSTO and save a lot of money. But, if it would take a century to finish it will be meaningless (think about inflation... You get the idea).
@helelemamayku6302
@helelemamayku6302 5 жыл бұрын
@@Pierce1996h It will be cool. But I think Bradley mainly do stock challenges and I won't expect too much for a kick starter in this area :)

That was a pretty cool landing on the Laythe slope; a nice bit of piloting to make the best of a difficult situation. But if you want an easier landing spot, there's a large area of fairly flat terrain in what I call Chasmer Island -- it has a long lake in what's almost a chasm. East and north-east of that lake, the terrain's remarkably flat for Laythe. I got very bored driving a high-speed rover across it. :) The area is a little north of the equator; a natural harbor in the island's southern tip is on the equator. The north of the island has 3 large lakes, but it's lumpy around there. Also, I'm taking notes for a Jool 5 mission in the hope that my latest spaceplane will be suitable. :) I'm not even considering Eve... yet! :)
