Both my parents had thin and very light blonde hair as children, only when they became teenagers did their hair truly start to get darker. Now in their adult years they both have very dark brown hair. And I am the same way, as a little girl my hair was very light, but over the years my hair has gone from wheat blonde, to honey, to ash blonde, and has been progressively getting darker. As for blue eyes, the color blue for eyes is recessive. So since both parents have visibly brown eyes, if both still held the blue eye trait, they could pass it down to their children.
