Some years ago, my brother pointed out to me the marching band music at the end of Phantom menace was a variation of Palpatine's theme. John Williams does a similar thing with Jabba's theme at the Boonta eve race: instead of a quiet, creepy version in ROTJ, its regal sounding, harkening the sound track to so many older movies that delt with the Roman empire.

I always wondered what the point of Storm Troopers wearing armor was. It didn't protect them from blaster fire. It didn't even protect them from rocks on Endor. So why bother wearing a clunky, vision-impairing suit of armor if it doesn't protect you from anything?

Just a hypothesis, but maybe the "armor" gives the appearance of armor that clothes would not, thus being more intimidating to their foes. The armor could be purely for its imposing appearance.

It does protect them from blaster fire. You're assuming that getting knocked down equals getting killed. It's like a bullet-proof vest. It stops the projectile from going into or through your body, but it can't necessarily protect you from the impact of super-heated plasma hitting you at high speed just like Kevlar doesn't prevent you from feeling the impact of a bullet. Getting shot in armor means that a guaranteed death becomes possibly just a mild injury.

Storm Troopers were originally planned to be more like the Death Troopers that showed up in Rogue One. I used to have a set of Ralph McQuarrie’s original concept art and it featured some images that didn’t make it onto film for the first trilogy. As far Vader’s age, it wouldn’t have made sense for him to be 70 when he died, Luke and Leia were still in their mid-20’s at the time, so he would likely have been in his 50’s. Obviously, the prequels confirmed his age at the time of their birth, so it gave a more exact age for him in ROTJ.

I think, though, that Vader's aged appearance makes sense when you consider how badly Kenobi injured him, and that his armor was essentially under Palpatine's control for 20+ years.

How many other fantasy/sci-fi franchises bother with toilets either? There’s also no mention of any jetlag-like symptoms which would be widespread for moving between planets with different day lengths, or anything really about the weather when everyone always talks about the weather.

Fun fact: paper took even longer to appear in Star Wars than bathrooms did. The ancient Jedi texts in The Last Jedi are the first-ever on-screen appearance of paper in the Star Wars universe.

I guess you wouldn't count a deleted scene, but in a deleted scene in ERB C3-PO tears a paper "beware of Wampas" sign off a door before everyone leaves.

@jb888888888 Yeah, I've seen that scene (it's hilarious!), but I don't count it because it was deleted and is thus non-canon. But you are correct in that if it had been kept in, it would have been the only appearance of paper until TLJ.

I watch the extended editions of the Hobbit yearly. I've rewatched TFA and TLJ like 5-8 times since they were released. As for ros/solo I've only watched them 2-3 times since they released

I think solo was the first time that showed someone taking a shower. Rey looks like she could’ve used a shower multiple times throughout the sequels

The ages of Vader and Obi-Wan in the OT were retcons, badly done retcons. When the OT was originally made they were more the ages that they appeared on screen. But Lucas retconned their ages into being at least 10 years younger because he wanted a baby Anakin in TPM.

Also, why didn't Owen recognise R2 and 3PO in ANH? I mean, two exact model types of exactly the same colours together who used to belong to Anakin?

@@white-dragon4424 it's quite obvious that Lucas only had some rough concept of how the galaxy looked before the jedi fell and how Darth Vader came to be. This explains how Obi-wan looks and behaves like a grandfather and why the jedi seem to be a rather distant memory and almost fogotten about.

@@germanwolf9212 Yes, the way they talk in ANH, it makes it sound as if the Jedi are ancient history rather than merely 19 years before. Even Solo, who's in his early 30's, was totally sceptical about them, like he was talking about King Arthur or something. There's also Obi-Wan's line about them being the guardians of the galaxy for a thousand generations, whereas in the PT, Lucas changed it to a thousand years. It makes me wonder if Lucas reviews what he previously wrote in his own movies.

Alec Guinness was only sixty-three when he play fifty-seven year Old Ben, you know like how Mark Hamill was twenty-five when he played nineteen year old Luke, just a six year difference Anakin swore he'd never return to Tatooine, that's why he told that Commander to see to the retrieval of the plans personally. Obi-Wan never said he didn't recognize the droids, only that he didn't recall owning a droid

The end of the Last Jedi always bothered me. Leia told Rey to be herself, then she says she's Rey Skywalker. If she listed to Leia, who's right there next to her when she says it, she would say she's Rey Palipitine.

I thought it odd that Palpatine's first name is Sheev, since he told Padmé it was Frank: "I must be Frank!" Sebastian Shaw was actually older than Alec Guinness, like Margot Kidder was older than Christopher Reeve in Superman, but the older actors are still just playing younger characters and the younger actors are playing older characters Maybe Rey is a Kenobi, her father was Palpatine's "son," but we know Jack about her mum. Of course if it turns out Rey's mum is a Skywalker, daughter of Shmi's sister or something, then fans can't be mad about her Skywalker name anymore lol 😝 In Kotor II The Sith Lords, they called it a refresher bowl, toilets existed in Legends

If you are going to point out how music sounds the same in two movies, and then don't even bother to play a few seconds of it so we can hear it, why bother? Do you think we are going to go record the emperor's theme, speed it up (as indicated in your video) and then compare it to the music at the end of the Phantom Menace? Just don't include it next time rather than set us up.

Regarding your question at 1:39, when did Stormtroopers learn to hit their targets, the answer is during training, same as any other soldier. Remember Obi-Wan remarking that "Only Imperial Stormtroopers are so precise". Stormtroopers are only lousy shots when they've been ordered to miss, in order to allow the rebels to escape so that they could be tracked back to their base. I hope this clears things up for you. 8)

My headcanon is that the storm troopers on the Death Star were the top notch best of the best and as you rightly point out were ordered to miss on several occasions. After the Death Star was destroyed _(Never Forget!)_ the Empire had to quickly recruit or draft new troopers to refill their ranks, who were sent out to the field with a bare minimum of training.

Obi-Wan, who knew Luke's father, told Luke that his father was dead. When they retconned this, nobody batted an eye. Rey is told she is a nobody by Kylo Ren, who did not know her parents and had literally no way of knowing anything about her. This unsurprisingly turns out to be untrue and you all lose your simple little minds. Stop being ridiculous.
