the worst one is when a wrestler becomes a special guest referee. they take a basic closeline and they are out for lile 20 minutes but when they wrestle they can take 40 chairshots and get straight back up

Its their health bars. Refs only have about 10 health and get knocked out so easily for long times, tv matches wrestlers have around 5000 health and in ppv matches they seem to have 15000 health which is why they always kick out of at least one finisher

Right? Like.. we're really going with the ruling of ONE ref trying to keep up with anywhere from 2-10+ people at one time, assuming they even manage to stay conscious through an entire match, as the final say in every single match (except when suddenly storyline dictates otherwise)??? Especially when you sometimes even have one, possibly multiple wrestlers, occasionally even an announcer, and of course actual camera footage (which is already inevitably being replayed immediately afterwards) saying "yo, you missed some absolute cheating bullshit and your ruling is wrong"?? Like.. c'mon bro. I get it back in the pre-TV days, but at this point, it's just absurd

Then there's the hilarious logic behind backstage fights. A heel will beat up a face for 3 minutes straight and no one will show up but if a face attacks a heel suddenly WWE security, referees, WWE officials, and half the roster will show up in seconds to pull the face off the heel

The taunting that always used to get me was when Eddie would climb up to do his frog splash. He'd be doing his whole shtick and the opponent would just have to lie there for ages. Then the commentators would sometimes be surprised that the opponent ducked out of the way when he finally went for a dive. Half the time they'd had enough time to get up, go get a coffee, have a bathroom break and come back by the time he was finally ready to do the dive.

My friend has his own kayfabe reason why Shawn Michael's Sweet Chin Music is much more deadly than any other wrestler's super kick. Compared to guys like Young Bucks or luchadors, Shawn would put all of his weight to his leg, would know what right part of his opponent's to hit, and deliver with the right force to make his super kick aka Sweet Chin Music much more damaging to most wrestlers besides main event/legend leveled guys.

To be fair though, gen z has the most trash trends in comparison of previous generations. Hell even people have become pussified, especially if you go on Twitter. Examples any and all dances that have shown up on Tiktok and Fortnite. Tide pods, Gorilla Glue Girl. "Memes" that have existed in the last 5 to 10 years with only a few actually being funny, till it gets ruined after people keep spamming it months after it died. All rap music became Autotune which means you can have 0 talent and still be called a decent Rapper... Looking at you Sound Cloud. The only "good" thing of this generation is the technology advancement. Hell even WWE is not doing good now after releasing almost every star on it's roster. Imo cancel culture kinda killed wrestling for tv's cause people don't want to offend anyone anymore. Half of what made Wrestling big today would have gotten "canceled" especially early Cena whose character was sexist and racist. So yes this generation is definitely worse than previous ones.

Many Movies and Shows have cliché moments but we mostly overlook them because we understand those tropes are here to stay. Like a Horror movie will always have the jock, the virgin, the naughty girl, the stoner, the comedic, etc...and someone will fall while running from the killer or the car won't start when the killer is approaching them. So yeah, there's many examples we can use but you get the point.🤗

That’s the point, all these criticisms are under “if it were real”. Obviously, you have to let reality go a bit to make pro wrestling work.

How about when a wrestler celebrates a win for a title, but won by DQ or count out and doesn’t get the belt and starts stomping around the ring and/or cuts the standard shout promo? Don’t you know the rules by now?

Or the 619 too since the wrestler receiving the move has to drop to the ropes perfectly which is really difficult to believe.

Sheamus's Ten beats of the Bodrum (or whatever) and Randy Orton's middle-rope DDT are especially frustrating as you need the opponent to get in position within the ropes for them

About the “why don’t wrestlers steal finishers”. They do. It’s a common heel trope to steal your opponents finisher as a show of disrespect to their opponent and to the sport in general kayfabe wise. If modern wrestlers all used the same move, not only would it kill possible heel heat by having the occasional finisher steal in a big rivalry, it would kill the move’s heat like what happened with superkicks. Just imagine how piledrivers were in the Attitude Era. Devastating move but rendered a mid match spot by its overuse.

The great thing about distractions is that the audience will also turn to watch the ramp. So they get distracted as well, which makes it understandable when wrestlers do it.
@BainesMkII
@BainesMkII 2 жыл бұрын
It actually makes the whole thing worse. That's why the distracted wrestler has to spend 10-30 seconds trembling in fear of a phantom interference, as the whole match effectively stops to give the audience time to stop looking at the entrance and return to watching the ring to see the inevitable surprise roll-up.

Being distracted by theme music actually makes sense as it signals a potential threat. Playing your theme music, forfeiting the element of surprise, when you’re the attacker is what makes no sense.

I think there needs to be a reassessment of kayfabe A lot of these things can just be tweaked with some extra attention to psychology. These old rules are just outdated and changing them would be refreshing as well as show a new Era. I think the death of kayfabe should be acknowledged in kayfabe to help usher in the new Era.

I think it's because of the how long the match they want match look reality so the fun to see a good match and so when they so when they climb the ladder it makes you seem like they are tired and worn out that's why they climb slow I'm guessing butt if everyone else is laid out why not get up there quick

the taunt is one of the most important things in a fight, especially if its a one sided affair, I remember back in middle school being in a fight and telling the kid to "get up don't make me come down there" after I knocked him down, or in 7th grade some kid claimed words will never hurt me, until I hit him in the face with a Websters unabridged dictionary, and promptly exclaimed I bet that hurt. Taunting in fights is as old as fighting itself.

one thing i've never understood in a tag team match, is that the faces are always on the left side while the heels are always on the right side.
@uflstallions_dynasty
@uflstallions_dynasty 2 жыл бұрын
I can explain. With the current camera view, the left side is where you can more easily view the hot tag. It would look more awkward to the right side. And as you know, heels just don't do fake tags apparently lol. So it's just a logistical thing that breaks the illusion.

#2 is probably the biggest one for me(#6 is just hilarious). When a wrestler performs a move requiring both wrestlers to be on the mid or top rope from the corner and watching the opponent slowly climb to the position required to take the move just completely destroys suspension of disbelief for me.
