Hey Luv,
In today’s video I’m sharing with you the 10+ things I don’t do or use on my Relaxed Hair and the reasons why. I figured this would be an interesting way for you to understand my regimen and healthy hair journey a little better. Plus, it’s always intriguing to see what people don’t do in their healthy hair regimen vs. what they do! Trust me, there were more things that I wanted to include, but this is a great start :)
Be sure to share what things/items you don’t do in your hair routine in the comments below. I’m curious to know. If you decide to share here on KZfaq, be sure to tag me so I can see it, too!
As always, thanks for watching, sis! Oh, and don't forget to LIKE & SUBSCRIBE:)

In my 60’s and have been both natural and relaxed for decades as I do whatever works best at that time in my life. Today I’m relaxed. Never worn wigs, weaves, braids etc in my life. I wear my wear out daily except for the occasional bun. It works for me! At this age I have to enjoy it now. I save nothing for later or a special occasion. Every day is a special occasion because I woke up. 👍🏾. Great tips!

Thank you so much for sharing your advice and experiences! I just relaxed my hair after being natural for 8 years. I enjoyed my natural hair journey, but with everything going on in the world I found I just didn't have the mental or physical energy to keep up the lengthy routine I had in place. I'm super grateful that being natural taught me to care for my hair , so now I'm in a better position to learn how to care for relaxed hair- something I never learned before while growing up. Looking forward to this new journey & super grateful to have found your channel.♡

So I used a Lye relaxer for the first time today, I love it. I have fine hair but my middle gets real thick when my new growth comes in. When I was natural back in 2019 to 2020, my hair grew but not pass my shoulders. Once I started relaxing every 3 months or longer in 2020, my hair is now almost arm pit length. I deep condition like crazy and wash my hair weekly. I use a hair bond, not Olaplex, I can't think of the name right now, I went blank, lol, but Ulta sells it, that helped my hair with the growth as well. I drink plenty of Core water as well. I love your tips.

Only works if your hair dries in 8 hours naturally. Some unfortunate souls have hair that us still wet after 48 hours and that is bad for the hair and the scalp. Bacteria and fungus love warm damp dark places. Hygral fatigue/mushy happens in strands that have been wet for too long.

Yeah … I feel you on the double heat. I have a blow dryer & a flat iron but usually when I do my weekly washing and conditioning.. I usually blow dry my hair then put my hair in a loose bun or ponytail… I have a $200 flat iron & I barely use it. I don’t see the need plus blow drying AND flat ironing that’s too much work… also I workout a lot so ain’t no point in doing all of that when I workout 5x per week 🤷🏽‍♀️

Also another big lesson I learned thanks 🙏🏽 to you was I was using too much protein. From the shampoo to the leave in was loaded with it and it showed in my hair. Spot on about lye relaxers being better for hair, harsher on scalp. I've been on lye for 20 years. My hair is mid back, and that's because I cut it to keep it that length.

One thing I notice that you do that I don’t is smoothing the relaxer through the new growth with a comb. Applicator brush only for my stylist and that keeps my strands thick and nice!

@@mrsx7944 I’m not talking about the ends, I’m talking about the new growth she’s relaxing. Using a comb to smooth takes out too much texture and makes it straight even when wet

Thanks for the info, we have a lot in common with the things I don't do, I try to comb my hair every 2 to 3 days and can't strech much either at 10 to 12 weeks, that is it!

I love ❤️ the fingers as a comb. I do use my fingers (not nails) to message daily. Plus, I rarely shampoo. I message and then use my own hair rinse or steeped rosemary and mint.

Texlax is for me. I wear wigs due to time. Take it off when home. 8 weeks between relaxers. No braids or twists no flat ironing just smoothing with a warm pressing comb. Placed in a back twist supported by a nonbrakage rubber band. No combing for three days. No breakage seen. Good hair growth. Trim as needed, but not cut just dusting. My hair grows slowly about less than half inch a month. But it is thick. Less see thru. Shoulder length. Use bjco. 3 time a week. Wash with conditioner. Silk scarf at night. Then be content with the process

It’s been twenty weeks since my last relaxer at the end of this month I’ll relax it.. i havent’t used any heat for seven years now I’ve learned the hard way. My hair is healthy because of it… I dry my hair thoroughly with a t-shirt and let it dry naturally…

Or just try fingers first and then your comb after - if finger detangling alone doesn’t work😉

Great video, very informative. My hair has become more and more gray but along with my hair growing longer, my hair along my crown is becoming very thin. Could be due to health reasons or vitamin deficiencies. The only time heat touches my hair is during retouches but I’m thinking of foregoing both blow drying and flat ironing my next visit to see if it’ll make a difference; will opt to air dry instead.

I have to condition before deep conditioning since they don't tend to have enough slip to comb my hair out. I actually like to condition, detangle, and add my deep conditioner on top since I feel like deep conditioners can cause tangles even after combing it. To make sure the deep conditioner works as well as possible I keep like with like (aussie 3 min miracle on top of aussie moist, shea moisture over shea moisture or some other botanical silicone free conditioner, trader joes hair mask with the tea tree tingle, etc)
