I just stumbled that video and I really really like it. Sometimes I have problems relating to the sort of questions and statements other autistic people find annoying. Lots of autistic people for instance don't like statements and questions like "Oh really. I would have never guessed" or "Are you high-functioning?". I simply see this statements as an invitation to explain what Autism is and what it is not. Unless the statement is obviously rude and meant to hurt, I always remind myself to assume that people are just curious but do not know a lot about Autism or only that what they've accidentally come across through the media.

I believe strongly that we have far more empathy than neurotypical people because we're picking up all the signals, it's just our mental filing system takes into account conflicting signals, as we're far more aware of people saying one thing when we're seeing the hidden messages or that they're presenting a false image for personal reasons/personal gain/desired empathic response, and that feels incredibly inauthentic to us and we're not sure how to respond in those situations. 'It's better to keep shtum than say the wrong thing'.

I too have always said I have more Empathy that most people. Mainly because I have had to learn it over and over and over again to the point where I am just programmed to feel that way now.
