Intentional sin is handled the same way as in a court of law ... justice tempered with mercy. When is SIN first mentioned in the bible and what did G-d have to say about it? The punishment was so severe, because it is about not kneeling to the Roman Emperor. They conquered Israel, and now they demanded subservience. i none was given, they would perceive that as an act of war against their Empire. That was the crime, rebellion against the Empire. If you want to understand how this ancient idolatry worked, I think "Ceasar's Messiah" (youtube channel / documentary) has it right. You see how the idol makes no sense whatsoever. They demand loyalty to their idol on pain of death, and they threaten everyone with their torture tool right on top of their churches and towers. That is a death threat, a threat with the Roman punishment for rebellion (crucifixion). What does the idol say; pay your taxes to Rome. The whole thing is really a joke. I think the idolators are so scared for Rome still, that maybe they fear this brutal Empire will one day again rise up, and everyone who was not worshiping the Roman Emperor would be tortured to death. This is how they probably perceive the final phase of history. Global domination by the Roman Emperor, and everyone who was not kneeling already would be put to death, and then forever a dictatorship under the Roman Empire. It does make some sense to think this way, if you realize the Roman Empire subjugated so many tribes, and for them this Empire was extremely fearful and menacing, wasn't it. The Roman Army was far ahead of it's time in organization and whatnot. They had a lot to fear, and where indeed put to death for rebellion. Maybe that is why they think this way, that their idol will come and put everyone to death who doesn't worship their idol. I mean, it literally happened already more or less (and maybe _more_ than _less)._ This whole explanation makes the most sense to me at least, because it makes the worship of this idol emotional and instinctual, and that explains why they do it, because the creed itself is senseless and absurd. The idol is literally promoting Cannibalism, and adds nothing to the Torah, except paying taxes to Rome and being some kind of defenseless peacenik to the death (result: zero, the idol died without any result). Complete joke of a religion really, so why do they believe it ? Well there is another explanation, and that is that it is a punishment for the Jewish people, organized by heaven (speculation alert), but all can be true at the same time as well. Listen… I ain’t here to try to change your mind… the messiah gets it right the first time though. He doesn’t need a redo. The one you speak of didn’t practice what he preached, and no Jew who knows anything about anything related to his own faith is ever attracted to the ideas of Christianity because it’s sheker. A gem that looks like the real deal, but shatters under pressure. Unlike the Torah, which is Emes, and the more force applied reveals how strong it stands on its own. A real precious diamond. The idea that mankind is utterly damned is a thoughtless attempt to justify sin. We are responsible for our own actions and the Torah outlines this, in fact stating that one cannot die for another’s sins. Furthermore, the very idea that G-d being all powerful would for any point in time be a helpless baby is laughable. Christianity doesn’t encourage pressing questions on its teachings as falsehood (no matter how seemingly well intentioned or nicely dressed it is) can it stand under pressure. Torah is the only pillar, and stands on its own no matter how much you press, and many of its laws go completely out the window with Christianity’s teachings. The prohibition against making a graven image is just one of a plethora of things Christianity doesn’t hold to. To say we share the same foundational book doesn’t even cut it as G-d wouldn’t deceive us, saying one thing, then changing His mind. G-d is, was, and always will be One. The idea of a 3 figure “godhead” therefore is as repulsive to Jews as the graven images in every church. Despite these miracles and extensive knowledge of their stories, we don’t see them as G-D almighty, the holy one, blessed be He. We also see more than one man who claims to be the messiah, and it turns out they weren’t. (Shabbatai Tzvi to name one). Mashiach Ben Yosef is an individual whom there are many opinions on, some of which state that it may be due to the tragedies of the Holocaust, that we will not even need to undergo the “birth pangs” of Mashiach to that degree. There are, like many opinions about a great many topics, numerous opinions throughout the Tanach. None of them entertain your notion, that Mashiach Ben Yosef was that of whom you speak. When the final redemption does come -May it be speedily in our days, we will see miracles in our time, and these will happen in rapid succession.

I never claimed that they rabbis claimed Jesus was that man. All of those who'd understood the mission of Messiah turned to him when he appeared. What is today called Christianity was in the First Century called "the Way" and was made up entirely of Jews who saw Jesus of Nazareth as the fulfillment of the prophecies (Like Micah 5:2 Daniel 9:26, Isaiah 53 to name a few). Those who rejected him of course wouldn't see him later on as they passed their views to subsequent generations. But the Scriptures still stand.
