I have the greatest respect for my husband and he for me for reasons much deeper and solid than gender roles. He doesn’t need me to conform to “rules” to prop up his masculinity. As for a purse, mine is a concealed carry .

I'm with you, to a point, on the purse; However, I'll make exception under any condition where I am serving her (or the kids) needs. An example, out at the park, zoo or other public place when the toddler takes a spill and needs a quick moment of comfort from Mama, you bet I'll make sure that our belongings aren't left unattended on the ground. A dozen more scenarios come to mind but I hope this effectively conveyed the idea.

As an older woman, married 25 years with six children and three grandchildren, I believe we should teach the younger women how to raise their children, take care of their homes, take care of their husbands and themselves. Of course, it's impossible to decipher every individual's intentions, but I've always assumed the server goes to the woman first for the same reason we hold the door for them to walk through first. As a sign of respect, value and care towards the weaker vessel.

I agree with most of these things. There are a few where exceptions can be made. Opening the door for her is the best option, if you are in a hurry or your hands are full some exceptions can be made. Holding the purse, yeah I don't like to hold it, but if my wife needs me to hold it and it helps her I'll do it. If it's a "hold my purse cause I'm tired of holding it" no it's your junk you hold it. Ordering for the lady seems chauvinistic, but the reason is solid, you are serving her by ordering for her. If you are married your finances should be together anyway so the guy can pull out his wallet and pay the bill. When my wife and I were dating there were a few times where she wanted to pay the bill. I realized she wanted to feel like she was contributing, she didn't want to be the financial burden. I let her pay a few times when she insisted. The guy should follow these rules all the time, but there are a few situations where an exception can be made.

Great advice. I do just about all of this on a regular basis (at least try to) and notice that it does work! When I slack off, things change slowly. That's dangerous territory in a relationship! It was not taught by my parents or school when I was growing up but rather you saw other men doing it and learned that this is how it is done. It is such a good feeling to implement these steps and reap the rewards of a loving wife. For those who appose it, it's understandable why you do. You simply have not experienced the value it offers.

The first time a girl offered to go half on the bill, I almost cried with joy! date after date after dead end date woman expect you to foot the bill even if they don't deserve it... it's nice and refreshing to meet a woman who doesn't take advantage. And personally I think men always paying is a tradition that needs to die, especially when women work and definitely if they make more than men do. PS. Women 100% will NOT respect you just because you buy them things. I learned that the hard way so you don't have to.

This is a great video. I'm blessed with a husband who makes sure to do most of these things. With 2 toddlers in tow, however, I'd rather him get one of them out of the van than worry about me getting out. I'd love to see a video by Mrs. W about things women should do. the "bring a coat/sweater" is a big one, in my private high school by the end of novemeber we had 2-3 days with a great sun and a bit warmer temperatures, one morning i came with a big wool sweater that i've been using in the woods and a carhartt jacket as i knew the temperatures were going down in the afternoon, and indeed they dropped, by 12°c. i gave my jacket to one of my friend who was wearing a summer dress and my sweater to a classmate, and for what i've been told, it went in half a day on more than 10 girls who were all very thankful few days before prom! (ps: they loved the smell of men cologne and wood on it) that's the kind of story that make a man's reputation particularly in a small french town...

When I was dating my wife (25 years ago, when we were in high school) I lived by this list. At that time, remote/electric vehicle locks were still a new concept, and my vehicle was not equipped. I would unlock/open/close her door, and I was walking around, she’d reach across to unlock mine. I always thought that was nice. I realize now, I’ve become a little lax, and have much room for improvement. Thank you for the reminders.

I am terrible at doing all these things. It’s funny how good of behavior you are on when you are dating, doing all the things we should do for women, and then now I’ve been married for 5 years and I’m lazy as can be at doing these “extra” things for my wife.

Hello Cody! My name is Rick. I came upon one of your amazon tool review videos and something in your way of carrying yourself through the video, your honesty and sense of humour, made me want to watch more videos; I've been binge watching them for the past 24 days. It's fair to say I appreciate your content in it's full scope, your personality, the subjects you bring to the table, your traditional/conservative way of approaching life and most of all, your willingness to work as hard as you can to be as independent as possible, but still having in mind the duty of kindness towards others, apart from your immediate family. I was brought up in a semi conservative family in which morals and values were deemed as of the utmost importance, to live life in harmony with others, and even though my parents avoided making it the centre piece of our family dynamics, christianity was always there (the reason for this, is because my mother didn't want to impose her beliefs upon me and my sister). Me and my sister ended up deciding to become christians, and embrace God and Jesus Christ in our lives. For the most part, the most important parental figure during my childhood all the way to my teenage years was my mother; she always worked full time and always took care of us at home, getting us our food, clothing and needs met. When both of us were little we had nannies up until we were old enough to go to school, but because my sister is 9 years and a half older then me, she would also look after me. We never had any housekeepers, my mother would do everything around the house and my sister would help; during that period of time, my father was travelling around the country installing software in banks, so I had little contact with him. Long story short, I was made into a Man by two Women! I always had the opportunity to have some insight on how a woman likes being treated in general, and I was taught to use my observation/analytical skills to get to know the people around me and be particular about the way I address and treat each individual. Needless to say, I try my best to follow most of the items on your list, on a daily basis, however, there are a few I don't agree I should follow all the time and this is justified in part by the conclusions you arrived on your video titled: "I Was Disrespected today (What Happened)". 8:17 - I don't think the man should always pay the bill. In some instances, the bill should be either payed by the woman or split in half, or there should be some sort of agreement on what should happen. I have been in two serious relationships, where I lived along side a partner. In one of them, both me and my partner were working, and I was paying the bill whenever we went out for diner or ordered food in. When the relationship ended, I had £300 in my bank account and an apartment with a £750 rent to pay, apart from all the other bills. She went on to rent an apartment on her own, and even though she had more money on her bank account than me, she still asked for a loan.. I am currently in a relationship in which my partner wasn't working for a while, so I was/am more than happy to pay the bill on every occasion. What I notice is that after a while, your partner will develop a behaviour of entitlement and expect it to be your job to always pay the bill. I don't agree with that. In these two relationships I've mentioned the house bills were tendentially split in half, whenever both were earning an income, working full time. So why not split/pay for a bill on an outing as well? I used to think it would damage my reputation as a man, not getting all the bills sorted, but I don't anymore. It feels nice being treated to a meal every now and then, and as a man, I think I deserve it too! In my mind, if both are earning a similar amount of money, both should make an effort to treat the other in turn, so that neither gets to the end of the month without money on their bank account. As it is, and being that I'm at the moment the solo provider for my household (my wife is not having a consistent income at present) I pay all the bills. 9:20 - Partially agree with this one. I have had girlfriends or just girl friends who thought it was funny to abuse my kindness and made me hold their purse for hours. Not anymore. I'll briefly hold my wife's purse so she can do something she needs to use two hands for, but that purse is going back to her hands the minute she is free. It's not because I'm a man and I don't carry purses. It's because she willingly decided to carry that purse, so she should carry her own burdens, just as I do mine. Having said that, if we go shopping and she gets tired or her back hurts because of the weight of her backpack or carrier bag, I'll take those from her and carry them all the way home. I am stronger and have more stamina, so I will help her if she is struggling. 10:55 - This one brings a bad taste to my mouth. I was taught to be a gentleman. Opening the door for a lady is a must-do-at-all-times for me. What I have noticed over the years is that most women take offense when you do it, as if you are insulting their ability to be independent or they think you have secondary intentions and you are trying to force yourself upon them, by being kind. When it comes to my wife, I have no issues. She appreciates the gesture and me as a gentleman. For other woman, I'll do it once. If they start looking funny at me, that's the end of it. I'm not as strict as you and I won't feel the need to do things all over again, if my wife went ahead and got the door open for me though. 11:39 - Partially agree with this one. I am the situationally aware member of the relationship. I tend to always check the weather before we go outside. My wife is usually too distracted, even when I tell her to take a jacket because it's looking like it will rain or get windy towards the end of the day/later. She almost always fails to bring her jacket and because we don't own a car were we can leave one for her, most of the times she ends up taking mine. I don't mind, for the most part, but I too get cold, specially because I have bad peripheral circulation, and when exposed to cold wind my skin temperature drops rapidly. So it's not really fair that I get cold because she din't think to listen to me or forgot to look after herself. If we owned a car, I would probably do as you say and keep a jacket or a blanket there, so she could use it if needed. I just felt like sharing my opinion. In no way am I against you or your views, I just don't necessarily agree with the previous points, at all times. You have been an inspiration in my path to become a self sufficient and reliable man, and I applaud your guts and none apologetic, but respectful attitude towards your viewers. Great advice sir. My father taught me some of this, and I taught myself the rest. For us Fathers of daughters, remember to also treat your daughter this way. Not only for respect and to show your love for her, but to show her and give her standards as a young woman. If she is with a sleezball she will know it fast by how he behaves because Daddy didnt so it that way and he respected her. Glad I got a Midwestern wife and we are raising a Midwestern daughter.

I agree with most and feel like alot of common courtesies are lost i society today, but the way you say it's just respect seems more like you may have control issues and you do it more for yourself and your own image. Making you lady come back through a door way when your in a rush doesn't seem respectful.

Mosy of these rules are classy and but a few are weird self image based barriers in everyday life. Very strange.

Lol. I’m getting most of these - BUT! - my Ma is 93 - you darn well better believe that I’ll hold her purse from time to time. I’m man enough to assist my Ma in anyway she needs. Interesting video, but I have to say any man that is a man follows his own rules. I wouldn't hesitate to hold my wife's purse. Its a nice thing to do so she can free her hands. A real man don't feel less of a man just cause he holds a purse. Car door is held open on date nights, the rest of the time she is a grown women and she is more then capable to open the door herself. A relationship is about working together. Generally speaking a large part of our society is socially engineered and brainwashed into doing and acting a certain way and think that there are specific rules that they need to follow. Being respectful and courteous in your own chosen way is what might work best for you.

My girlfriend had ordered a unsweet tea and realized she wanted the tea with the flavor bubbles in it and she was so bashful to order it so I had ordered it for her she was so happy and appreciative for it.. also I thought about the holding a purse thing if she needs me to I'm gonna say no I can see the importance to such a simple thing always hold the door and let the lady through first for a stranger or your women 100%

YES!!!! I grew up watching my father do all these things for my mother. He taught my brother the same things, which he does for his wife, and my brother taught both his boys the same! I am teaching my son to do these things, because, unfortunately, my husband was not taught to do most of these things - over 13 years of marriage, he's learning...like when I just stand at the door of an establishment and not make a move to open the door...he gets it. My son, who is 12, will ALWAYS open the door for me, and when we are getting into the car, (if I think we are in a safe place), he opens the door for me, makes sure I'm in the car, closes the door, then walks around and gets in the back (he's still not big enough to ride in the front)...it just warms my heart! I absolutely will make sure my son treats women with dignity and respect. Along those same lines, even as a woman, if I am out somewhere with my mother, I do those things for her, and if my son is with us, he does it for both of us! There are still women like me who very much expect to be treated this way...but can also put on my work boots and a hat and go work beside my husband just as Mrs. W does with you. Great vid!! I love your"old school" way of thinking and living. I was raised on a grain farm and have similar values. I think you need to start a podcast, I would really enjoy it. Another excellent video and just great for the young men of today to learn a little that will be of special help in their courtship and throughout their married life. I remember also that my grandmother taught me to always walk 'beside' a lady and not in front of her as it was disrespectful to have her following you. As someone who has been married for 57 years there are perhaps a couple of additions to consider. They are in surprising her, take a bunch of flowers at various times. Not particularly birthdays, but even mid week of a working day as you come home from work. Also try and have clean shoes and well cleaned hands and nails. Its not too difficult to make the effort when out with your lady. If the young men remember this video, you will have helped them learn the way of the 'gentleman' and the ladies will absolutely love it. Well done Cody.

I agree with some of these things ! I’ve been married 8 years. My wife orders food because I eat what ever dish she doesn’t! Also I hold my wife’s purse because if someone try’s to steal it they have to go through me. That’s the protector in me and I don’t feel less manly for doing it. Secondly when she’s shopping she cannot hold the purse when’s she’s trying clothes on. I agree on all other topics.
