You can’t do in Spain the same things you do in your country. If you don’t want to have trouble in Spain, if you want Spanish people to like you, watch this video till the end.

It's true that people are not usually punctual but that doesn't mean it's okay. I think it's impolite to get there 30min late (5-10min is kind of acceptable), people won't say anything but still it's not okay if you can get there on time. It's rude to make people wait. It's even worse If there's a schedule, because all the planned agenda is delayed because you decided to get late. In my experience, the host prepares things at least 30min in advance, not after the time that was agreed to meet up (making your guests wait is not okay either).

En términos generales, "ser" implica algo permanente, esencial, mientras que "estar" es pasajero, temporal: si "eres" guapo es que naciste con unas facciones bonitas, mientras que si "estás" guapo es que hoy te has vestido muy bien, o te has maquillado mejor que de costumbre; si "eres" viejo es que tienes muchos años pero si "estás" viejo es que, por tu aspecto cansado, porque te duele algo que no debería, etc., aparentas más edad de la que tienes. Ahora bien, dicho esto, hay mil excepciones que no responden a ningún criterio.

A bit misconception that I think of, you can't be late for a meal like dinner or lunch (cos they will have to wait for you), if you reach 5 minutes later is not a big deal, but better not to do it, if a group of friends meet for drinks on a bar or on a coffee shop, and It is a big group It doesn't care when you arrive, but don't be late for other things

Do you not use 'Usted' when talking to a person who is older than you and you don't know them? I always use 'Usted' in that situation, and I would recommend foreigners to use it. It is polite to do so.

Spain uses usted much less frequently than pretty much every other Spanish speaking country.

@DerekPScott I agree, but you still should use 'Usted' when addressing an older person you don't know. That's just manners. I am from Spain and I even use it to talk to a waiter who is older than me.

Bueno seguimos con el estereotipo de la siesta masiva que tanto se usa afuera para criticarnos muchas veces y los dos besos ya prácticamente no se dan a desconocidos lo sumo hola a una mujer y un apretón de manos a un hombre

@@Benito-lr8mz pues justo digo en el vídeo que la mayoría de la gente no duerme siesta... aunque en mi caso, por ejemplo, a la hora de la siesta no puedo hacer ruido porque me mata mi familia y me matan los vecinos 😅Y yo por el momento sigo teniendo que dar dos besos a amigos y desconocidos aunque no me apetezca 🤷🏼♀

Te faltó hablar de el aperitivo 😮cuando me mudé aquí nos invitaron a un aperitivo nuestros vecinos y nosotros creímos que era después de almuerzo, como café o postre. Cómo buenos Salvadoreños comimos almuerzo a las 12:30 y fuimos llenos al aperitivo jaja😂, cuando llegamos nuestros vecinos Españoles empiezan a pedir y pedir y yo pido un brownie vegano jaja me miraron con unos ojos….y yo trágueme tierra. Ahora nosotros los hemos invitado a varios aperitivos a nuestro piso y siempre viene a memoria aquella primera vez 😂

¡Ese brownie vegano me ha dado hambre! Jajaja Me sorprende que lo llamasen "aperitivo", si parece que era un almuerzo en toda regla 😆😆 No he escuchado mucho la palabra "aperitivo" en ese contexto. Me alegro de que sea una anécdota que recordáis con risas 😆😊

En una primera presentación le hablaría de usted y ellos seguramente te dirán q le hables de tu . Es entonces cuando lo haría .

Hola, soy Español y no se como he acabado en este video. Solo decirte que no estoy de acuerdo con lo que cuentas de los besos. Los dos besos se dan en las mejillas, no en el aire, sino el saludo pierde todo el sentido. Dos besos xd

Me encantó el video, pero me poni un poco triste por este razón: Cuando se habla de "gitanos" es mucho mejor describirles "Roma" ó "Romani". Llamandolos "gitano" es un poco racista. Lo siento mi Español, soy Sueca y no hablo ó escribo bién el Español.

En España a un gitano se le dice "gitano" (y a un payo un gitano le dice "payo" igual), a un negro, "negro" y así sucesivamente. No tienen connotación racista. Es más, lo que se considera un punto racista, condescendiente, es usar eufemismos del tipo "persona de color" o similar, como si hubiera un color de piel peor que otro y hubiera que ser cuidadoso con el que ha tenido la mala suerte de no tener el color adecuado.
