They gave him death threats for saying someone outside of AEW is a better wrestler than Kenny Omega too. Not for nothing, but the AEW cultists are some of the worst fans I've ever encountered. You give their favorite product even the least bit of VALID criticism and they try to doxx you, find out where you live, threaten to kill you and your entire family. Two things: firstly, JR isn't a bad fit with AEW. The guy is a legend and he's still a great announcer. Who the hell cares if he makes a mistake every now and then? Everybody has a brain fart moment, as even the video states. Don't think "he flubbed up" is the reason for the video talking about JR's fit for AEW. Hopefully Micheal Buffer doesn't hear your impression...The man is infamous for being EXTREMELY protective of his catchphrase (understandably when he literally gets paid 6-7 figures just to say it!) and sues at even the slightest mention of the word rumble! LMAO. Seriously though...Imagine getting paid that much just to utter a couple seconds long phrase.

You forgot Michael Cole saying to Vince about the Network over his headset: “Do you want me to say that every time? Because I’ve said it a shitload of times tonight.” (Then there’s a pause. For longer than there should be.) “Okay… Yes, sir, yes, sir… Okay, I’ve got it, sir… I just didn’t know if you wanted me to hit it every time but I’ll do it from now on… Okay, thank you… Yep, I will.” Sometimes you get the feeling Michael Cole is on our side.

I'm not defending what Jim Cornette said but you do need to remember, the NWA didn't fire Cornette immediately after he said the quote, a quote he said a thousand times before, no, the NWA taped the show, edited the show and put it up on KZfaq. Then, after the backlash, suspended and fired Corny. Oh, then they took down the episode.

It's not about Jim, it's about the dipshit who is narrating this video and how completely disingenuous it was as well, and it's about how all of these things add up to make a completely stale industry dictated by offended people on the internet when there's more people who either don't care or can look past it.

In Mike Adamlee's defense, Jeff Hardy did work as Jeff Harvey very briefly when he was a jobber (although I doubt he knew this). In Jim Cornette's defense, it was a line he'd used before and didn't realize it was racist. He's from Kentucky and probably just went with fried chicken because it's one of the things his home state is famous for. I didn't even know that was a racist thing until that whole incident as I'm from Australia and hadn't heard that before. With all that said though, he did try to defend himself by saying that it wasn't a joke about black people, it was a joke about starving people...which isn't really any better. Cornette has a brilliant mind for wrestling, but from listening to his show he does have some strange ideas about all kinds of things. Some of his statements on women's wrestling are certainly questionable and some of the things he jokes about are also questionable (which most of the time his co-host Brian Last calls him out on). He's a loud mouth who sometimes doesn't think before he speaks, but I don't think there's any hatred there for anyone other than Republicans, Vince Russo, Jim Herd, Sable and Kevin Dunn. Cornette is a flawed individual, like most people, but his passion for and knowledge of professional wrestling is second to none.

As someone who is from Kentucky, I’ll share my piece on the Cornette stuff. Jokes like that are unfortunately common amongst older folk who just didn’t take sensitivities into question and, like Jim, they really don’t change for anything. If you’ve ever listened to Cornette spiel about despising technology and not adapting to the world around him - that’s like 70% of Kentuckians over the age of 50. Compounding this with the rhetoric he’s commonly used about generating heel heat at “any means necessary” and you’ll find a recipe for disaster. I don’t honestly think Cornette is a racist, but I do think he needs to really evaluate his view of the world and his one-sided views. Just because the intention wasn’t malicious doesn’t make the call any less real.

@@encyclopediaespx1128 They should have reprimanded him for his error. Instead, they just immediately fired him. They publicly apologized before Jim was informed that he did anything wrong. It wasn't even aired live, which meant production heard the line, green-lit the episode to air, and only acted when people complained. Highly unprofessional. Careers of people who give most their life to the industry are not a frivolous thing. Thought he's doing fine, It's not an endearing trait for a company to pike peoples heads to appease its critics.

I still cannot understand why people hate on JR so much. He may mess up from time to time, but he still brings so much to commentary team and has such a wealth of knowledge and experience to impart. He is a big part of the reason why I greatly prefer AEW's commentary over WWE's (it's not even a contest honestly. WWE's commentary actually actively detracts from what's going on instead of actually enhancing and adding to it, like good commentary should. I almost like I'm watching a kid's show, with how they constantly repeat the same things over and over, dumb down everything and always point out super-obvious things. It's just condescending and insulting IMO.). Also I think it's pretty damn inspiring that he's still able to do what he does and do it at level he does at his age. I hope he continues to do so for a long as he can! It'll be helluva one sad day and end of an era when he finally retires from the commentating booth.

1. Cole gets too much crap, and I bet you he probably actually thought a kick out had happened. He did do something similar during 2003 Vengence during a tag title match and both him and Tazz were perfect on how they covered that up to make it look like a blind tag was so good that no one caught it. I think some mistakes make the product more real since sportscasters can see something on replay and end up being allowed to correct themselves. 2. Go look up the ECW Triple Threat title match from NOC 2008. Adamle provided his best commentary work there and showed a lot of promise, especially putting over the Mark Henry title win that night as a big deal. 3. That Schiavone call was so iconic because he was so emotional because of having to do that that he had to call Foley to apologize about that, and look at the date. Something ELSE happened on WCW that night that many believe was the beginning of the end for WCW (the TRUE beginning of the end was when they thought Russo was a good hire to get, but whatever). Let's just say Bishoff might have wished that no one turned BACK to WCW once WWE went off the air that night.
