In this video I want to share with you 10 tip for joining up with an off-road club for the first time. It’s never a good idea to go wheeling by yourself and for a beginner, to go out with an off-road club can be a great experience and an opportunity to learn some news skill from some seasoned off-roaders.
A good club will do a lot of planning, pre run the trail and ensure they post the level of difficulty of the trail and minimum vehicle requirements ahead of the run, make sure you get that information before heading out

Great tips! I really think more people need to learn the uphill and downhill etiquette. Especially for drivers with a manual transmission, they need more room. Also, momentum is vital in certain hill climbs and if you are too close to the person ascending you run the risk or losing your own momentum and possibly sliding down, creating a dangerous situation.

Good stuff. The only thing I would add to your list either under basic equipment or expecting the unexpected would be a good fire extinguisher.

Thx for the vid. I used to 4wheel in SoCal in the 70s & 80s but not with an organized group. Also our equipment wasn't near as good as what's now used. I recently picked up a 48 jeep set up pretty nicely. Will be heading out with a club in the next month. Hope not to embarrass myself.

Good video. I live in California and I'm New to the whole 4x4 life. I've got a Suzuki sidekick ,decently modded and ready to go. But I'm finding it a little difficult to find people to go out with. It seems people here only stick together if you have a jeep. What are your thoughts ?
@TrailRecon

I see groups of folks out on the trails with a mix of vehicles all the time and most are just guys getting together (not really clubs). I'm sure there are few clubs locally that you could hook up with, just spend a little time on some off-road forums, facebook and google.

Great advice! Thank you. Only problem is, when you're wheeling in your TOYOTA and you see all those Jeepers drinking and parting all loud. Creating a traffic jam because they are so drunk trying to get over a little bump. Yes I'm sure they aren't all jeepers, but why is it we all cringe and get on coms and say "we found the jeepers!" Honestly our little group of like 5 or 6 always get so nervous. We can't stand it. Sorry but it's kinda true.
