By far the best thing to reduce my itchiness has been organic coconut oil. Shea butter did nothing and maybe made it more itchy. I use the coconut oil and now I rarely have to use a topical steroid. My skin has almost gone back to normal.

It’s probably easiest to buy 100% coconut oil! You can find it at most health stores and even grocery stores. Just make sure you get one that is 100% coconut oil without additives 😊

I feel like another good tip is detoxification. I have went through so much bad flare-ups/inflammations, feeling like i would never get better. But detoxing the body is what helped to ease the itch and heal the inside and the outside of my body. I still have eczema and psoriasis, but it's slowly healing. I recommend detoxification which is basically cleansing..so vegetable juice, water and mostly eating raw foods. I'm telling you, this is a strong testimony for me to share to those who are suffering with eczema/psoriasis. It makes a huge difference. As for the products that i apply unto my skin are just natural creams or oils. Coconut oil, castor oil, shea butter or comfry cream (natural homemade cream) are some very helpful skin products. Let's keep our hopes up!

Agreed! What are your thoughts on fasting? Some people believe fasting is a great way to “detox” and I’ve seen it work for a lot of us eczema sufferers.
@alyssaramos8206
@alyssaramos8206 4 ай бұрын
@FightingEczema Yes, fasting is indeed a good way of getting better. I have done it many times while doing detoxification and the result of it is miraculous. The only problem is temptation and poor self-control. When I feed myself with sweets, overdoing it and getting addicted to it. That's when my eczema comes back, worsening and having to go through the itching cycle all over again.

@alyssaramos8206 Even though I am 99% healed, consuming too much sugar is one of the things that may trigger a flare up and cause my eczema to come back!

Have had light seasonal eczema since I was 15. Now I have Contact Dermatitis. Before I had a patch test done, I was using several items that I had no idea was actually making it worse! Lavender & Chamomile were 2 things that really flared it up! Avoiding 30+ ingredients isn’t easy being a mobile groomer 😢

I went to my doctor a few weeks ago, he took a quick glance, was barely listening to what I said, asked zero questions about diet, sleep, changes in chemical exposure, stressors, et cetera. and prescribed an expensive moisturiser to get me out of the door as quickly as possible. The moisturiser is no better than anything you can get in the supermarket or even rubbing in oatmeal lotion or aloe vera into the skin and I think it actually made me worse. Again, the doctor not asking me about psychological causes particularly struck me since I think that for myself (and likely most people) this is the main problem that can be fixed through simple mental exercises that redirect attention away from the itching sensation which is really just a stress outlet habit which, when ignored for long enough, goes away without you even noticing.
@FightingEczema

I’ve been hearing more and more stories similar to yours lately! Unfortunately it has also happened to me. Kind of weird how you go to the doctors for a skin condition and they barely even examine your skin, right?
@matthewapsey4869

They're not trained to holistically examine a patient and provide a remedy, they're trained to vaguely coordinate symptoms with various 'products' that can be tried out in sequence and various combinations in a trial-and-error fashion to maximise sales.

12k daily that’s awesome! I love running too, got a couple 10k races coming up in a couple months but that’s nothing compared to your daily habits haha. I truly think that people with skin issues should be exercising everyday. Did sweating from your runs irritate your skin at all?

I ran my entire life w zero sunscreen ( OMG!) A derm told me " it's the cumulative affect" true enough!I intue that on 1 hand sunscreen helps,yet,in another way,hurts from clogging up... well everything. I predominantly get " rashes" where the moving parts of running rub. It's a real catch 22. I find the more I run the healthier I am on every level( to a point) I also play piano 4-6 hours daily ( concert level) so the moving rubbing parts often apply hear as well. I stopped the gym because I've run 100% barefoot for 4 years now& I do all my weight-lifting barefoot too. @@FightingEczema -it's very unclear as there are SO many variables to consider.( dietary,environmental, situational/ circumstantial ect..) I'm currently debating the efficacy of the sun. On 1 had the vitamin D ( actually hormone) vs the UV---AB&C sunscreen or not. Infa -red purportedly has positive skin outcomes-meaning be put side more near twilight.

@@FightingEczema how is the best way for me to find out about bacteria on the skin? I've been dealing with eczema my whole life, and recently since Oct 2023 have been dealing with TSW. I assume there is some sort of bacteria or fungal infection on my skin, due to all the scratching, and skin breaking...
@FightingEczema
@FightingEczema 4 ай бұрын
I would find a naturopathic doctor or other healthcare professional in your area that can order microbiome testing. I believe there are also online test kits that you can order to test your skin at home yourself. However, I wouldn’t focus solely on your skin microbiome. Also look into your gut microbiome, hormone health, immune system health, etc as those could also be contributing factors. Good luck with the TSW journey! It’s hard for me to recommend one over the other without doing a full intake! If you find you are itchy more at night, I would suggest trying to optimize your sleep first. This is because if you fall asleep easier and sleep well, you won’t even be able to scratch since you will be sleeping like a baby 😴.

Yeah TSW is more of a newer condition that is just being learned about so if your dermatologist is older or is not keeping up with new research, that might be why they are questioning it. I totally understand how you might be feeling so the your skin. I really recommend you find someone who can work with you individually to help determine the root causes of your skin issues. It’s a little too difficult for me to provide you with any information without getting to know you. Chronic pain from eczema can be caused by so many things unfortunately.
