@@Daniel-nn8mr WCW was going to do an angle where Pillman would get "fired" and leave WCW for awhile to then return later. He convinced Bischoff to actually fire him so he could go to ECW for a bit to develop the loose cannon gimmick and then return to WCW. He then just left, worked ECW a bit, and then signed with WWF instead of returning to WCW.

Did he get more money? I always assumed that AEW payed less but had so many other perks (more creative freedom, less road time, etc.) That many wrestlers just chose to make less but be happier

Soon as WWE found out how much AEW was paying their talent they were forced to give Superstars raises.

Luger was a little bit different in that he wrestled for WWF without a contract for months...there's a War Stories video about it.

There was no 90 day no compete clause back then. Luger simply signed a contract to start the day after his old one expired. He got away with it because his booking at that time was terrible. The difference with Ambrose is they learned from passed mistakes and wanted go keep him. He just refused.

Its not that they thought he would amount to nothing. The problem is they run their roster with such huge numbers of talent that most get use in the mid card for so long it becomes natural for the bookers to keep them there. in order for every performer they have to hold a title they would have to have a title change weekly and people already complain abojt the short title runs we have now. AEW will have the same issue. 75% of AEWs talent are World title worthy and they will never see it. Adam Page, MJF and Darby Allen are guaranteed Champs in their run with AEW. But those are still a ways out. Next champ will be Hangman. He i going to be the first to kick out of the one winged angel and beat Omega. they said hangman was the future of aew before they even had their first tv show. but there are so many others who will be nothing more than the guys who get to challenge for the top spot and never get the reward. i am with you that Cody is a great wrestler but at the same time what about Dustin. How could the wwe not give him a better character and give him that top spot with all the time thwy had him. 50 years old in AEW and he consitently puts on better matches than 90% of the wwe young talent ever will.

I don't know why Lesnar expected to make the team. His only football experience was in high school. Just because you're built like a football player doesn't mean you can play in the NFL. The vast majority of college football players don't even make it to the pros.

"Independent contractors" who don't set their own schedule, aren't allowed to take other jobs, have to get permission from the boss to do basically anything, are subject to discipline and fines for stuff they do outside the ring, and have a non-compete clause that prevents them from working elsewhere for anywhere from a month to a year after their release. Doesn't sound very independent to me.

Cody did his best, but the Stardust gimmick was simply too shitty for anyone to make work. I have no idea why Vince was so enamored with the Stardust thing. Cody hated it and it never got over with the audience at all.
