The “misfits” angle for a team works if you give them some kind of story or reason to band together. They had no character development, they barely had characters aside from their gimmicks. It just seemed like they bunched them all together to give them something to do. You can’t justify to me why a Punk Rock Chick, and MMA fighter, and a Viking-thing are part of a team without telling a story.

Was killed the Decay was Jeff Jarrett returning, and the Hardys completely and utterly burying them. Decay could recover after the Hardys turned them into jokes

Sting fitted perfectly but TNA didn’t know how to book him as a conflicted character who wasn’t a heel yet didn’t side with the younger stars due to their lack of respect.

Also Rampage Jackson in the reformation as they tried to cross promote Belator. He didn’t fit wrestling period. Guy could barely walk to the ring.

Let’s just just be impressed that they actually remembered Cutler and/or The Forgotten Sons. Like honestly 3MB & Hornswoggle era DX have presence in the collective memories of wrestling fans and are probably remembered more favorably

But McMichael, with the Super Bowl ring and partying nature, actually fit in better with the way the Horsemen carried themselves. Roma and Jarrett did not.

He and Jim Powers would defeat the true "enhancement talent" but lose to mid-carders and above--at least that's what I recall. Triple H said it best on the Four Horsemen DVD about Roma being added to the group--"the job guy from WWE?"
