For Mogami class there are 3 of them already in service rn by December 2022, and the 4th ship JS Mikuma will be in service by March〜April 2023. And the other 4 (total of 8 for the first batch) are in construction.

Additional info related to type-31 frigate. It has a variant dubbed as frigate Merah Putih, built for the Indonesia navy under licence from Babcock International, UK, with a total plan of 2 ships for the first batch. The first ship is under construction at PT PAL facility in Surabaya, Indonesia, and now is entering keel laying phase.

The hunter class is a type 26 frigate modified a bit modified but. You've got the same ship twice in The one list you have the hunter class separate and near the bottom and then for the type 26 you say au can and uk are building them which yes that is true it's the same ship more or less all 3 will be slightly different due to the different needs of each country's hunter class being the heaviest we are only at this time may change but for now building 9 type 26 frigates aka the hunter class

You both have a mistake, indeed the Alvaro de Bazán F-100 class are the current ones. The future ones that have already begun to be manufactured are the F-110 Bonifaz class

FTI has been renamed to FDI since several years. And the planned ships are now 8, the Greek navy ordered 3, with a 4th as option (which will raise the total amount to 9 should it come to that).

Looking forward to the Type 26 Variants. There being customized/custom built by different nations with different options. Canadas type 26 is billions over budget, suppose to have every type of ship missile in a large quantity, along with torpedoes, air defense, missile defense, anti submarine warfare, electronic warfare/cyber, radar, special ops equipment. Canada is building its as a heavily armed highly advanced multirole Frigate. Due to lack of sailors instead of building few different ships there building insane multi role do it all ships. Which isnt the smartest idea but will make for a monumental deadly ship

Current budget for Type 26 from Canada is now 5.6Busd per ships more then the UK aircraft carrier. Complete nonsense , after they cry they have no money for the navy ... with the total Budget now close to 86 B usd they could have build 85 FREMM proven design . What ever the load of missile still doesn't make sense at all

@@JULIENSELLIER don't be so ridiculous, FREMM and Type 26 are not in the same league, Type 26 is the best in its class, it's not even up for debate.. There's nothing wrong with Canada wanting the best, now they will have it, not only will they have the most advanced frigate in the world, they will have the best variant of it too, it's certainly a lot better than our Constellation class, that's for certain, well done Canada!

Second my comment was about the extravagant cost of the Canadian Type 26 , 5.6 Billion per unit yes man that is nearly the cost of 2 Queen Elisabeth aircraft carrier . So what ever the quality of the ship. There is no denying that 5.6 Billion for a frigate is just ridiculous . So yes I ll end with your sentence well done Canada !!! The issue there is what Canada will have to save on their army budget what program will be scraped in order to pay that ridiculous bill . Nothing more so I guess you are for the USA , so would you rather have 5 Constellation frigate or 1 Canadian Type 26 ? The answer is simple in a era where we can now see that number of tech is also an important factor you might think twice. The intent of developing much more automated systems instead of manpower has long been a design requirement for Canadian ships. At the time of the development of the Canadian city class they also opted for more automation than the American Burkes which were designed at the same time, the 1980s. At the time there was considerable cooperation between Britain, Canada and the US in design development. I know this because I knew a fellow was in the development team at the time for the city class.

Nilgiri class will be the best in the world when commissioned. Also some of these ships are actually Destroyers. Anything more than 7000 tons is a Destroyer and should be categorized with similar sized warships.

Size dosen't matter,it's package & configuration matters. A 6300 tons INS Nilgiri Class should have been something like Chunmugong Yi Sun Sin/Iver Huitfeld Class in configuration like: 76mm/127mm Naval Gun 1 AK630/Kashtan CIWS 1 Pantsir M/PALMA/RIM116 CIWS 8 Bramhos ER in Cannisters 32 cells VLS for Barak 8ER 32 cells VLS for: 16 ASW Missiles 8 LR LACM/Kalibr/Zircon/Nirbhay 8 cells VLS for 32 VL SRSAM/ESSM

There is almost no consideration in ship classes by tonnage. Multi purpose vessels are the way to go nowadays. The MKS may be bigger than most frigates, but by its role it's rather that than something like a destroyer.

Well, I regard it as a new class at all: Its weapons fits to a frigate far low 10k ton, but its can operate on its own like a cruiser. This is, because it was designed after cold war, assuming low armed opponents like pirates or civilian ships during embargo, but not against a real navy.

Political reasons. You can sell a Frigate to politicians but not the more aggressive word Destroyer. 10.000 ton is about the same as the official weight of a Deutschland class pocket battleship ;)

A 10,000 ton 'Frigate' !? Big, even for a destroyer. Back before WWII the Germans built 'Deutschland' class armored ships rated at 10,000 tons - or "pocket battleships" according to the Royal Navy .

It seems a bit odd to have s ship almost 6000 tons and equip it just with MICA. I mean their are great but they have rather short range. Also having a turkish combat system will require it is certified for all those weapons which will cost extra money if they aren't. But it makes sense if it's used by the rest of the Indonesian fleet.

For sure Germany's boat is hardly war capable. It is built with commercial building rule. Its more like a cruiseliner with broad stairs, 2 elevators en 2 sauna's. The weaponary is under the minimum, ev en if it would be 100 meters long, it still has less weapons than other ships of 100 meters

Canada and Australia are licensing the Type 26 design and building them domestically. The deal also comes with technology transfer and technology sharing between the UK, Canada, and Australia.

Well, there is no hard rule and destroyers started as rather small torpedo destroyers themselves. Back then, the Washington treaty organized the ships into specific classes, but that broke down in the 1930s already. In fact, you could define a small rubber dingy a "Battleship". People probably won't take that too serious, but nothing stops you from doing so, putting it into the navy register. 🤺😉

The role of the ship, decide if it is a frigate or a destroyer, but it is also a bit diffuse, since it is a bit politics in it as well, Navies sometimes classify their ships, to pleas the government (some government are more willing to give money to a frigate then a destroyer, just because of the name destroyer (those peace loving wankers)) UK tend to cal ASW ships for frigates and AAW ships as Destroyers!

@@fatdoi003 oh I see what you mean, I was looking at some images of the FFG(X) on google and there seems to be 2 more panels positioned in the back similar to the Arleigh Burk, so I would assume there are 3 in total.

Right. What I miss in the top 10 is the dutch LCF class. A number of ships are now equipped with APAR block 2 integration and SMART-L EWC in combination with an upgrade to ESSM Block 2. This SSMART-L EWC radar is able to look 2500 km away and also look high up at satellites. This APAR radar is currently the best radar you can get. As it now looks like, the LCF ships will also be equipped with SM3 missiles.

The Chinese PLA Navy has commissioned the Type 054/054A/054B/818 FFG (2/44/12-20+/6) for the PLA Navy and the CCG coastguard. The production run is ongoing but so far 40 x 054/054A/818 are in service and 12 are either under construction or outside order. The Type 054B is ready to start production and is possibly already being built, but the number expected is between a minimum of 12 to 20 or more. So at least 52 are already operated by the PLA Navy and the CCG coastguard of China with between 12 and 20+ of the Type 054B version expected to be built soon. In other words, China will have between 64 and 72 of the Type 054 and Type 818 class. They are 440' long and 4,000 tons displacements, with a crew of around 170. They have 32 x VLS cells for medium range HHQ-16 SAM's and Yu-7 ASW missiles, 1 x 76mm or 100mm Dual Purpose Gun, 2 x Type 730 CIWS, 2 x 4 YJ-83 SSM, 2 x 3 ASW torpedo tubes, light AA guns and machine guns, full array of Decoy Launchers and ECM, etc. They carry one helicopter (Zhi-9/Zhi-20/Ka-28) and have a bow sonar, a Variable Depth Sonar and a Towed Array Sonar, plus sonars carried by the helicopter. Each ship is believed to cost from $270 million to $380 million dollar each. The fact that this class of FFG frigates is not included as this video is a major omission.

It states powerful frigate??? The spanish on has 16 mk 41 silos and rimfire??? The type 26 has 24 x2 vls, qaud packable sea ceptre missile caple silos 24mk41 silos Plus naval strike missile add on??? Type 31 has naval strike plus 24mk41... Thats why the spanish ones not there. Who builds a warship with 16 missile tubes its week. Sorry but true.

Please explain how you put the hunter class down in eighth spot and the type 26 in second when they are pretty much the same ship? If anything with the superior ceafar 2 radar system the hunter is more potent then the standard british T26.
