Hmm, well if you are happy to see something good finally arrive then saying “long overdue” is the best phrase. Synonyms of overdue are late, behind etc and these options definitely feel more negative like a promise or obligation has been broken.

Why on earth we, regular learners, which not going to be spies, who need to pretent and disgiuse as locals, or consuls, who have to be deeply immersed in culture, so why we need to learn this subtle things of pronunciation or idioms. Have you ever heard indian or chinese english speech? (No offences) They realy do not care! (Contrary we love this funny indian accent). And they're still beaing understandable. In the same time we often struggling to understand British accent. Since English become international communication tool, it's not requires, my subjective opinion, such following of native speakers. It's just another unreachable point for us, which couse us feeling unperfect. So I just want to say about wide universalization of English, which of course keep and save its connection with Great Britain, but already came out from the bounder of this single culture and continues to develope independently
