Gogo the Mime from FFV. You stand back and do nothing, and he gets mad at you for mimicking him doing nothing and just dies.

Actually, he praises you for mimicking him perfectly and then leaves. He only gets mad at you if you bring him down to low enough health. Fafnir in XII can also be beaten by doing nothing. Just equip Mirror Mails or Reflect Rings to your entire party and stand in a corner of the area. His model is too large for the game to let him come up and attack you, so he's forced to spam spells. It seems Square Enix also forgot to give him the ability to pierce Reflect like most other bosses, so he'll just end up killing himself. The final phase of the Sephiroth fight in VII can also be beaten by doing nothing. You're supposed to use Omnislash on him, but a regular attack will also kill him. If you just stand there, he'll eventually attack Cloud who will counter and finish Sephiroth off.

@@metleon Never played XII, but is that the infamous boss with the millions of health? The one that shows up on boss lists often?

@@NarfLarf Well he does have 1.4 million HP, but you're probably thinking of Yiazmat who has a similar model. Yiazmat is also too large to leave his arena, but in his case, you still have to shoot him with a gun from the stairs while he casts Death Strike to kill one of your characters.

The Borderlands 2 example was a humorous gag. Thing is, the Franken-Jack sort of already felt like a final boss fight, so when the professor finally seems to grow a spine after cowerimg about you for a solid 50-75% of the DLC, I at least was waiting for the punchline of his monologue. Turns out "The Fall of Nakayama" was indeed quite literal.

The Rock Golem in Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Technically not nothing, as you do have to keep jumping to avoid sinking into the quicksand, but if you just stay there at the edge of the screen, the Golem will keep jumping towards you, until it hits the sand, and blows up.

oh, i just remembered a strange old Flash game called "Inquisitive Dave". near the end it has a really strange plot twist, where it seems that the villain has become self-aware, and KNOWS he's a character in a game! BUT, you defeat him by hiding in a place he can't reach you, and just staying there long enough causes something strange to happen to him, i'm not sure how to explain it... by not fighting him, to take away his purpose of existence, so he stops existing? something like that.

Lisa Trevor in Resident Evil REmake. Never shoot her in any encounter (just run), then in the final encounter with her simply walk around in circles letting her open the sarcophagus. She claims her "mother's" skull and jumps off the ledge without incident.

When you battle the Dark Knight as Cecil in FFIV, the battle ends after two attacks, if you do nothing. Although you can technically fight and win, it’s much easier to just sit back and wait.

I'm surprised you didn't included Famed-Mimic Gogo from Final Fantasy 5. Gogo starts off the fight by telling you that he's a mimic and whatever you do he'll copy. So, what happens if you do nothing? Well, he does nothing as well and soon, the boss fight ends. It's such a clever way to tackle a mimic character. Gogo disappears into The Void only to reappear in FF6.

the "Mutant Leader" boss in the first Fallout game could be talked into killing himself... BUT, if it remember correctly, you also need to show him a data disk with a report by a scientist who had been studying the mutants, which is found at the bottom of "the Crater" sidequest area, the most radioactive place in the game.

Buzzar, Paper Mario On your way across the bridge from Mt. Rugged to the descent to Dry Dry Desert, you'll be stopped by a large bird who consults a picture of you, notes the similarity, and asks your name. If you want to fight him, you can be honest and tell him you're Mario... or tell the obvious lie that you're Princess Peach. However, if you wish to avoid battle, you can tell him you're Luigi, and because the picture isn't in color, you look similar enough to Luigi, and Luigi's not anyone Buzzar's there to stop, he'll let you pass without a fight.

In Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows, during the boss fight against the shadow version of Plague Knight, if you stand still for 30 seconds you won't get hit and then the battle will just end.

Binding of Isaac: Rebirth's boss "Baby Plum" could fit on this list. Just sit there and dodge the attacks for about 30 seconds without attacking and it'll just fly off leaving a new item behind.

The Mime Gogo, from Final Fantasy V. He say's he'll mimic your every move. But if you do nothing, he'll mimic that and..uhh congratulate you before he leaves (?) the fight.

Ollie Bulb in Cuphead is part of the Root Pack. So even if you do nothing against Ollie Bulb, you’ve still got the carrot to take care of and the radish. So you technically didn’t beat the Root Pack by doing nothing.

You left out Metal Gear Solid 3. The boss fight against The End. At the beginning of the battle if you save then change the date on your PS2 console settings to about a year later then whatever date you have set on your PS2 then go load your save point in metal gear solid 3 The End will then die because of how long it took you to get back to the game. Lol 😆 that's a big miss on not including this on the list.

You can also talk your way out of the final fight in Planescape: Torment, and it's incredibly satisfying. Gives the best ending, even.

Honorable mention: Every single boss in the original Shinobi for the Sega Master System. Just repeatedly press the pause button on the console when the boss is on screen. Then stop when the boss is dead.

I think the Ravager from Remnant 2 deserves a spot, or at least an honorable mention. If you kill the Red Doe, which takes about as much effort as flexing menacingly, you bypass his fight entirely.

Lil' Plum in The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. If you don't attack him for 30 seconds, he'll smile and leave. Hurt him at all, and you'll need to fight.

The Turks in the original FFVII: Before confronting Hojo at the end of Disk 2 the remaining Turks arrive to stop Cloud and his party, but Cloud can opt not to fight and the Turks will amicably leave.

Didnt Super Mario Bros 3 (or World, I can't remember) had a boss that you also didn't need to do anything, because he would destroy the floor with his "butt attacks" and the fall into lava after the hole was done??? You only had to get out of the way, so it does count as a boss you didn't need to do anything...

The Saboteur, you can kill kurt dierker with just a headshot but, since he mentally snapped if you just stand still he'll jump off the Eiffel tower doing your dirty work for you. (I know I've harped on & on about the saboteur befre o this & another channel that does the same thing but still, IT DESERVED A SEQUEL DAM IT! Or at the very least a PS4 hd reboot with the midnight show built into it.)

I bought Dark Souls 2 on sale for less than $10, then upon trying it i realized that I really really don't like souls games. Now I'm completely disinterested in the entire genre. Every now and then I'll get excited about a new game, find out it's in that vein, and immediately lose all interest. If I want unbearable difficulty I'll fire up the old MAME arcade emulator.

Fallout 3's final boss is such a pushover, if you have Fawkes then he'll kill him for you. You can even tank hits until it's done or run around to avoid damage in the meantime.
