Wait. Didn't the silverback thing actually make it on TV, though? I have a very vivid memory of the announcers calling him "WWE'd resident silverback" or "the self proclaimed silverback" or something terrible like that. I don't think Henry ever said it, or that it ever became a legit gimmick. But I remember my friends and I being shocked that WWE had their announcers say it at all.

The Bret Hart gimmick wasn't exactly crazy though. He's from Calgary, which is pretty synonymous with Cowboys in Canada. The Calgary Stampede, the Stampeders Football team, hell the Saddle Dome is the stadium there, and even the Olympics in 1988 was all cowboy themed.

They did get one thing right though, when the man starts crying and has a panic attack at the pitched idea it's probably good to drop it
